Running a Home Game

I'm getting ready to start running a home game every week.
$10 buy-in NLHE / Tourney Structure / Rebuy only in first hour.
6-12 people every week

I just want to know what type of rules I should make for my home game...any suggestions?

Well as far as giving you a list of rules that you should apply, it could take all day and i'm just not going to do it. If everyone already knows how to play then just stick to the book you shouldn't have any problem getting the ball rolling. I will give you a piece of advice though. I have been playing in a steady home game for a couple of months, like 3 or 4 times a week! BE READY TO MAKE JUDGEMENTS ON THE FLY AND STICK WITH THEM! There will be specific situations that come up i.e. the person dealing accidentally flips the next street too early etc..... When things like this happen you are going to have to just make a ruling and set a precidence then just stick with it and set a rule right then and there for the next time. If you can make these decisions on the fly as long as their fair the game should run pretty smoothly as long as there are no A**H****. GOOD LUCK!!

Hopefully the people coming to play know how to play (i.e. playing basics, not acting out of turn, not cheating, etc.). That, of course, will make a home game much easier. Also, when you do make a decision about something, be consistent. One of the worst things that could happen is changing up your rules when certain things happen--then you start getting the "But you didn't do that to him . . ." etc. Also, if you want more serious games with less mistakes and craziness, I would try and make sure that people don't drink too much (if at all). I've had one too many home games completely ruined by the "drunk guy." Meh. It's all about preference.

make sure they know how to play for startes. if they are your friends and they dont know how to play and lose they might get pissed at you.
dont push them into rebuying and putting money in if they dont want to.
make sure they wont cheat. keep a few drinks around for your company but not much food, maybe a few pretzels. too much food makes a mess and distracts everyone.
last but not least, dont let any donks or fish walk through your door step.
i guarantee you'll regret it.

No guns allowed

No house cut, no fees (keeps it semi-legal in most states.). No cops.

Are you going to set up a table for people who've busted to play ring? Or is a football game gonna be on?

No weapons allowed. Maybe don't invite people who are angry a lot.

Have a printout of basic rules.
