Running Cards Multiple Times

Following a string of suckouts, I was curious to know if there are any poker sites than give the option of running cards more than once? I've seen this done on TV and it seems like a great way of reducing variance.

Pokerstars. But both players have to have that option turned on.

Is that something many people do?

I really dont know; from my observations there are more people who dont use it then there are who do use it. You generally dont want to have this option turned on against weak/recreational players and donks because you want to capitalize on their (mainly calling) mistakes.

The reason professionals on TV do it is 2-fold. First, they may have larger portions of their bankroll at stake, so reducing variance may be more important. Secondly, they usually only run it twice when they have a lot of history between them and believe neither has a signifcant long term advantage over the other.

I see this second case frequently in live play except in a different form. Regulars in a card room may openly check down to the river in small pots because neither thinks building up the pot is advantageous.

But I agree with Fknife. At low limits, against weaker players, you should have no reason to run it twice.

yup you can select the option of "running multiple times" on pokerstars and there are a decent number of players using it. If two players have this option selected then if they are all in the flop then the turn and river cards will be run twice, similarly on the turn and pre flop (whole board will be run twice).

It is good fun and you can use it to your advantage sometimes. All you have to do is mark the player on your table who has this option enabled (for this you have to put your chips in first time to find out). Once you know the board runs twice against certain player then you can start playing aggressive against him more often. Especially draws like open ender straight draws and flush draws to try and make them lay down the best hand. Thus you can win a lot of pots until the player figures out what you are doing.:dancing:
