Many pro poker players have weird habits...this is one of them. I think even Farha cant answer to your question.

With Sammy most things are superstitious. It's like how he always wears a suit and doesn't like turning his cards over when he is all-in. Do these things matter? Probably not, but if it makes him feel better it probably helps him play better.

Yes he is an old school high stakes gambler and is a very entertaining poker player. You'd be a fool not to take him seriously though in terms of the game. Seriously, if you are interested in cards at all you need to watch the entire "High Stakes Poker" series.

Just a habit. Hes one of the best. No fear. Lot of luck for Moneymaker in 2003 that he beat him.
