I see a lot of the pros and people live streaming and their playing music in the background. Is this a good idea or would it throw your concentration away?

You're a grown adult. Make your own mind up.

Personally, I do not listen to music during the game, this prevents me from concentrating !!! I think this is too individual. If music does not bother you to be attentive, then why not !!!

Yeah I agree. I find the opposite, music allows me to relax and focus on the game. It's totally a preference thing

I don't listen to music bc I'm paying attention to how people are betting and what their cards were after a showdown (even if I folded my cards preflop). I want to figure out their tendencies and music doesn't let me hear myself think... Maybe if it was classical music without any lyrics I would be able to pay attention, but its just not worth the added distraction when there's already a lot going on at each table.

I know many of my familiar players and for some, music prevents from concentrating on the game, but for others, music doesn’t disturb me, on the contrary, music does not prevent me from concentrating when I’m in the game, but I don’t listen constantly

It all depends on your mood. Sometimes the silence is depressing, and sometimes it is soothing. Also with music

A personal matter for everyone. In difficult moments, the music begins to distract me personally.:)

For me music is helpful as far as it is not too loud to distract me. Other players prefer to play in silence. It is different for everybody.

Every person is different. If you've never tried before, tinker and see if you notice any differences in your ability to concentrate or if you find yourself more distracted than usual. Won't know until you give it a try.

I always have music going in the background. Sometimes I’m not even aware of it. Just a bit of white noise to block out other distractions. Really a personal preference.

If you are listening to music you should be listening to 80s glam metal like Poison, Cinderella, Motley Crüe, Del Leopard, Alice Cooper, Scorpions, Damn Yankees, etc. Any other music is garbage.

Cheers.

only stations like lo-fi. the rest just distract from the game. the monotonous beat and quiet sounds allow you to concentrate

I think that in a live game listening to music is counter productive, I want to concentrate on what the other players are doing and saying, so that I can analize them and check their reactions and tells.

For a live game, listening to music can sometimes give off tells that you're not even noticing. I tried to do that once and someone was kind enough to tell me after. My breathing changed between hands and it was a lot harder to pay attention to what I was doing with my body.

It is a personal preference.

Some people find music calming and they can make better decisions other people find complete silence works best for them them.

Some like to play other games at same time like checkers chess and candy crush others like to keep themselves occupied by a movie, book, tv show or chatting with others.

Me personally I like colouring and doodling book and playing with one of those squishy stress ball along with listening to some tunes.

I suggest try many things and see what works for you.

Music and poker do not go together for me; but that is a personal choice. I play in a home game where the host always has music on in the background. Doesn't bother me. In casinos there are lots of TV's and they can be distracting.
