I had a guy lay down KK preflop (he flipped them over) after I came over the top of him. My table image told him I could only possibly have AA.

I had a fit about how in the hell he could lay down KK preflop and how he screwed my ability to take down a big pot - blah, blah, blah. I actually stormed out of the room (I had to pee).

I held JJ.

Wanted him to believe that it was brilliant lay down to reinforce his stupidity.

It really was - the table was aghast at my melt down (especially the ones who play with me often and know me to be pretty stable and not prone to tilting).

I don't think any of them saw my fist pump once I got around the corner.

I see people like to show if they have a good hand on a raise. This says to the others if I raise I have a good hand so fold. That's because no matter what you have if it's the best hand you could still loose a coin flip. Pair 3s beat pair aces etc.. personally I do not show unless I have an extraordinary hand such as Quads, or straight flush. This is very rare and gives no advantage.

WOW I should of start reading posts long time ago, I d saved a lot of chips. I always show, as it makes more exciting game for me, but I guess for chips hungry players too

I like a little lose game so it's easy to pull players in when you have a good hand. Time to make some changes in game play. Thank you guys, watch out now

Im not sure what the benefits of showing are. I think there is a good reason for really good LAGs to show so they can show people they raise or 3bet light and get more action when they have a premium hand. I just keep the check on auto muck if not called and never show unless I win on the river.

yeah I forgot to mention this one (probably cause I'm too much of a nit to do it) but I have seen respected players (in others they know what they are doing) show crappy hands they raised with BECAUSE the whole table is so damn tight. They know they are going to have a hard time showing a profit if they can't get us nits to loosen up and start to challenge him.

:stupid: I like to show in certain situations for deception purposes only. And as far as good players getting too much info on me. Good luck with that because I don't even know what I am going to do next.

I generally don't like to display the cards...it will come and bite you in the ass in the end. I also don't think chatting is very smart either while playing

I never show for reasons of ego. I always show if I have a planned course of action - that is fake loose play to get called later when I have a good cards. I feel like heads up is the best place for me to "show" because i don't have to worry about my overall image and can gain a good psychological edge over my opponent. I would do this only when stack sizes are more or less similar, heads up.

How? Showing isn't going to cripple you down the line. It's not like showing a hand now and then is going to give anyone a huge edge over you.

I guess chatting really depends on the person. For me, I can never chat and focus on the game at the same time. So I don't! As for showing, like I said earlier... no harm if it's part of a plan

as a rule you shouldnt show but i have showed for a cpl reasons. if ive been raiseing and winning hands preflop - sometimes or if a player is i feel deserving to know he made a good fold

Never show. Ever. If you show once you may as well show every time. Understand all the arguments above and there are situations where you think it may be beneficial to show but at the end of the day you are only giving away information which is exactly what you don't want to do.

You should never show online, especially since you will be multiabling anyway.
Showing cards live is fine, especially if you are not a reg at the casino because the short term benefits will outweigh the long term. (so long as you actually show for a specific reason.)

I think there are merits to both sides of the argument if there is a good reason to show my cards( i want to change my table image) i will but mostly i do not.
P.S. i find it great fun in cash games to bluff someone then offer to show them for an extra$5...

Best way to probably define this would be: The LESS experienced you are the LESS you SHOULD show your cards. The MORE experienced you are the more you COULD show your cards. The more experienced players probably have reasons for showing their cards (as stated above: Like switching gears to trap later: having superior post-flop play skills, waiting to being dealt a monster, etc..)

If you don't know when/if (have SPECIFIC reasons) to show your cards then you should NOT show your cards AT ALL.

In general, It's best to take the last option either way... Doing it to show "See, I could have won...See, you would have lost... Damn, I don't get these AA's often, let me show..." are not good reasons.

Experienced players (sometines even lousy ones if you show that often...) will start assigning the way you play/react/bet, to particular hand ranges.

In general, DO NOT show your friggin' cards...
