Had the same thing happen to on FullTilt quite a while back, and I did the same thing. The only problem was that the guy had a bigger stack than me and it took me at least half an hour to do it. This brought up the question - what would have happened if I decided to sit out as well, and neither one of us re-appeared??
The only time I get upset with sitters is when I'm trying to register for a S-n-G (no buy-in) and I'm not fast enough on the keyboard (eg. tourney fills up with 180 players too damn fast, but if do manage to get in, there are sitters - why take up spots that other players could use).

Im sick of playing with sitters who dont show. Especially when people fold to them and they dont know who is sitting out.

In general Im talking about games they people reg days or weeks ahead of time. Yes I know some may forget. But at least fulltilt and pokerstars can remove them after 10mins of the game starts.

for sure something needs to be done about this. But as you know they allow it in the main event or any other tourney in a casino. they will let you play and you can walk away for 3 or 4 hours and won't lose your seat in a tourney just get blinded out. there a lot of people that do that just to wait for all the donkeys to be out.

I played a game a couple of days ago 4 players remained and one was a sitter, I asked the other playes if they wanted to split the sitters BB and they all said no . I ended up busting out on the bubble. Maybe they didn't trust me, I don't know. I've done it before everybody takes turns raising when the sitter is on the bb while everybody else folds.

They were smart not to take you up on your offer.What you have done is collusion (cheating).If caught you can be subject to closing your account and keeping all your money in your account.You cannot make deals with other players to take advantage of other players in the game.A review of tourney rules is in order!

nice i completely forgot about that rule thank for the refresh. I almost asked that the other night.

Would I be correct in saying, then, that if you and another player just did it, (collecting the blinds off sitters in turn) without actually saying and agreeing to, you can not be accused of collusion?

If the pokersite feels that players are playing in a manner to take advantage of a sitter than you open yourself up for penalty's.
For example you fold big pocket pairs to the blinds,this may open you up to problems.

The best way to avoid this problem is play to Win!

i personally like having tons of people sit out. if you get lucky enough to be the only one at your table, you can make a lot of chips really quickly. i'll agree that it is very annoying when people check to the guys sitting out, especially when they lose to them...

I've never been in that situation. Normally, when I'm at a table full of sitters + one other player it goes more like this -

Take turns stealing blinds and when u have a real hand play it. It falls into a comfy positional type thing until the sitters are blinded out. There's no need to even say what we're doing, we just do it. It's instinctual.

Collusion is actually really hard to prove, even if you are folding pocket pairs. As long as you and the other player aren't discussing the game plan to collect blinds, if it happens "naturally" there isn't much they can do. Collusion detection software relies very little on actual betting habits. It is more centered on chat comments and IP addresses. The biggest risk of collusion is actually one person playing two or more hands on the same table. Picture this, i'm at my house on three laptops with three accounts on a 6 player s-n-g, playing HALF the table!!! problem is that my router puts out the same IP, YOU"RE busted. I'm no computer nerd, but that's how it was explained to me. any computer saavy folks out there have anymore, or more reliable insight?

Would you mind if someone was playing a 0/0 style and simply folding 100% of their hands? If not why do you care about sitters? It's fun playing shorthanded when there's dead money in the pot, especially as you get into the ante portion.

i was watching the main event (mighta been the most recent one) and layne flack was feeling like shit, so after doubling up his stack he just peaced home for the day and lost any blinds he had to put in, still having a healthy stack when he returned. lucky for him the main event is a deep-stacked-as-hell tourny.

A couple of funny anecdotes about sitters:

1. At UB back before I got spooked, there was this guy who was all in all a pretty good microstakes player. His only real flaw that I could spot was his love of abusing the all-in protection feature. He'd do it habitually and for kicks, just constantly lol-ing into the chat. He never used it against me, and I suppose it's because I was always freindly in chat + we had similar playing styles and he told me I was a good player(but with our similar styles it was more like he was complimenting himself). Anyway, after a couple of weeks of bumping into each other he sat at a 5c/10c table bummed out. I asked what was wrong and he told me that a guy stole all his chips in a tournament when there was a storm and his connection really was messed up. All I could do was laugh to myself and think Payback's a bitch.

2. At Cake there was a loudmouthed player who kept calling everyone else donkeys even though they were the one playing PLO 8lo like it was PLO. A guy at the table who later became a friend decided to challenge them to heads up NLHE. That's not the funny part. The funny part is that this loudmouth registered for the SNG, sat, then stood, and couldn't figure out how to sit back down even with 3 people explaining how to do it. Maybe they were drunk, or just stupid. At any rate it was strangely hillarious.

Well man, if someone registered to a certain sit and go or tournament,
like you say. In full tilt, if they time out, they do sit out. If your asking
them to be taken awayyy from the table... well that is totally unpractical.
Someone who payed for the buyin would have the right to see the hand
history, to have his spot in the table... to be able to play in the hand if he
come back 5 minutes, or half an hour later! I believe full tilt has a very
good system, and specify what exactly you mean please. I know there
are some other ones however than dont sit the person out... which is
very unpractical cause this person keeps the person waiting hand
after hand, but if its only one hand and the person sits out untill he
sits back in again, like in full tilt, i see no problems there dude.

Dude time out = sit out is the norm. It's not only done at Full Tilt. Indeed I hadn't realized UB implemented the system where if you sit out for more than 10mins you're eliminated for more than just freerolls, but then I bolted from there around the time they started it so...

I was being strong earlier when I suggested 3times per half hour, but something where you have to actively participate somehow would imho be a good idea. It's just how I feel.

BTW I believe that if it's taking forever for people to fold, they're then actively folding and taking advantage of time as a weapon. I've never played at a site where if you timed out you didn't sit out. So you have a whole different complaint there.
