How do you associate sleep with the ability to play good poker?
Let's see....being sleepy would I make life decisions like driving a car in downtown rush hour traffic, play in stakes way beyond my income level, consider Russian roulette with five empty chambers as "winnable"...etc...It seems like you haven't raised the ante/bar high enough to consider serious consequences to serious actions. Do you take poker seriously?

To have a good result in any profession, you need enough sleep so that your head and body are optimized.

I would advise not putting your brain through undue stress and input without sufficient sleep (and good nutrition, exercise etc etc).
When I used to play super hardcore online poker (with like 5-9 tables at once) after a few hours I would begin to feel like this:

If I'm tired, I don't play MTT tournaments, even if this tournament is once a week. I'd rather skip it, but next week I will try to prepare myself for it in order to be cheerful and in good condition
