This is exactly it.

If the cleverest thing you can think of is to stall ... well you probably cant understand why its funny that people are actually calling stalling a strategy.

I think people are somewhat forgiving on stalling when you're on the money bubble, but other than that I can't condone it. Really is a passive-aggressive type of reaction. I think you might want to turn off your chat you're not tempted into elevating the situation next time.

liar:p why would you , show mercy and they may come back and take your chips:D but please consider the fact that the ss staller is just waiting for someone like you to shove with ATC :D ;)

If it's satellite tournament where all the itm gets paid the same, then why not? But on the other hand, when someone stalls time, I'm targeting that person to go out. And I did spare a short-stacker before. In BLT satellites where top 23 players get entries, I spared this guy's blind bczx i had a humongous chiplead where my Mzone was like 30. With a very healthy chipstack and being a chip leader, i should be aggressive. But since we're only down to 1 player, I decided to spare him. By folding to his blind, other shortstack in other table bubbled and everyone got entries. But then in daily dollar, when some short-stacker stalled, I just targeted him to go out by shoving all-in with ATC while showing it and rubbing it in. But you do brought up a good point. Regardless of staller or not, if it's regular tournament where it's not a satellite, I would just play normally and use aggression to bully. I should've been more specific. In satellite bubble, If I have very healthy chipstack where I can afford many rotations, I would spare someone if he didn't stall whereas if he stalled, I would bully and knock his ass out with ATC.

Stalling is not nice and on some sites it is not legal. Some times it is in poor taste but somtimes it is a good idea like if you are close to the bubble. Many people frown at this type of play. The choice on how you play is up to you.

I dont think its against any rules or terms, but everything is up to the people who run the site. Why causes problems where the site will now look into your play, who know what else they could find and possibly ban you for.

Alright. Thank you for responses. It's good to know that I wasn't doing anything illegal or having my account at risk of getting suspended or banned.

But yes, I was being a complete jerk and douchebag on this sng. What I can do to atone for this is never do this again, which I had already planned not to. This was just one-time thing to get back at them and tilt their heads off since I was offended and angry at the chatbox, calling me all sorts of stuff and trippin over two stalled turns where I was busy helping my friend. I know it's not an excuse but it was my way of insulting them back or get them angry as well.

Some cardschat members on this thread brought up a good question since I see many of this in satellite. People stall time to adjust to the environment and hope other players bubble so that they can cash. Is that consider a dick move as well? Because I saw so many of those in satellites that when I'm big stack.

Glad to hear you are not planning on doing this regularly. I was just making a note not to play you in a turbo sng! I'm a fairly patient person, but sounds like you took it too far. I would suggest that, if you are concentrating on something else, just sit out for a couple of hands.

I have known people who do this often to get reported and possibly banned. (There was a player at a sng type that has relatively few players who like that game who kept doing this, game after game. The rest of us got pretty tired of it. No, I didn't report him, but others did. He was not seen again... dunno if he was banned for it.) It's really rude and kills the enjoyment of the others.

As to stalling at bubble time, I do that sometimes-- and apologize to the table. I just hate playing for hours and not at least cashing. And it's not for long, seldom more than a few hands. I'll try to chip up after the dang bubble, thanks. It's common and fairly accepted practice. And reasonable.

perfectly legal

Using the time clock is not only legal, but in many cases a good move! Causing other players to get impatient facilitates them making rash and stupid decisions.
That is actually a part of my game I need to work on. I need to learn to stay away from the pre-move fold button and wait till my turn to make my move. A to take my time doing so. Good Job!

thought the OP was hilarious. Who cares if someone uses the whole clock. that's what it's for. When it's up the game moves on. If it's tilting people or getting them to think about something other than their game...it's a good move. An edge is an edge.

I stall in turbo SNG's when I have a monster stack. I'm always trying to get the blinds to go up while I'm sitting in the SB, so I can be on the B when the blinds are up and RAISE'em!

Ive never heard of sandbagging as illegal and is to be expected by short-stacks on line nearing the bubble...And if this tactic tilts someone or several at the table all the better i wouldn't ever do this myself unless was in a mtt near the bubble but defiantly can be frowned upon in general play and is just bad poker etiquette. But if you dont care about your image than by all means do whatever gets you the win...congrats on that btw.

As I have posted on several previous occasions, it`s important to read the TOS of the particular poker room where you are playing. Intentionally and repeatedly delaying play is considered improper at many online poker rooms. For example (from the TOS of Bodog):

"Players that intentionally slow down play will be warned and if such behavior continues may have their accounts suspended."

.. and there are other examples from other poker rooms higher up the thread.

In practice, of course, slow-playing goes on regularly, and the rules do not seem to be often enforced. If you must use this rather weak tactic, just don`t annoy the opponents enough to make them complain to Support and you should get away with it.

Come on, there's no good reason to stall intentionally. Is your purpose in poker to win at any cost? And to irritate as many people along the way as possible? It's not the worst thing in the online poker world, but give your opponents a break. No one wants to spend more than an hour playing a turbo SNG. Show some integrity and play your hand when it's your turn to act. GROW UP!

Yup, pretty much this ^

It doesn't surprise me though to read this post.... tons of immature people on the online poker tables.

Only thing I've got to add (as far as your question goes..), You're the one who has to look in the mirror each day, if what you see is cool with you then why not.. keep bein' a jerkoff.

What? Care to expand on this? Is this assuming that many players are cheating online... or perhaps have something to hide that could possibly result in them being banned from a site? You've lost me here???

Its not illegal but it is against policy making a habit from it!

If you get titled from this thing, then it means you should try something else, not poker!

Anyways funny to see so many different opinions some of them with no arguments.

I think they should cut down the time to act by 5 seconds. You still have a time bank, so there would not be a problem about making tough decisions...The whole game would be faster and the tourney would be over faster. The site would win also, as they could squeeze in more tournaments over time...If people stall, it would be less of an irritation. Five seconds is a lot when you're waiting on every hand....

Why do you assume that it would cause tilt?

Its annoying in the sense that it slows down the game, but is this really going to cause someone to play sub par?

Hi everybody. It's been a long time since I created this thread. Anyways, people are using bodog or titan policy to justify it that it's "against the policy" for every other sites. If it's against the policy, then tableninja softwares should be illegal. If I wanted to, I can just turn on my tableninja, and then go downstairs to go eat dinner since pizzaman came and I accidentally forget to sitout, then it'll do the same thing where my table ninja will keep clicking "I'm back" button while running down the normal time of 15 seconds every hand.
against bodog and titan, yes it's illegal. but against full tilt and pokerstars, no it's not.
but was i being a dick in this sng? yes. but it is not against a policy or is not illegal.
it's equivalent to asking if slow-rolling is illegal and against policy. no it's not. slow-rolling is an anal and a dick move but it's not illegal or against policy. Same applies for this as well. and besides, i see so many of this b.s. during bubble play of mtt.

It is not illegal or the site wouldn't allow it. I would say I think it is inconsiderate and a "dick" move as you described it.
Some people do it all the time, on purpose it would seem, just to try to piss people off and get them to make mistakes.
Once you know someone is doing it on purpose, it usually defeats the purpose.
Again, as a "strategy", it is just plain rude.

rug

I believe if this was happening frequently and started bringing alot of complaints to c.s.,that something would be done.
However, you surely have built up some bad Karma that you will have to pay for in some way,someday...so,when somebody does it to you....
