Starting a career in Poker 2017?

Andre Akkari is a great poker player, he is a Pro, his money comes from poker and he started when he was 31 years old.
It was in 2006, ok, the poker was begging online, but we're able to see anyone can play, it just needs dedication and focus.
If I thought I could be a Pro player, I would try, but I don't think I'm good enough.

Well kiddk88 you say you have that $5000 to work with. You also said you will start in the low micro level. For me , the low level could be 2nl, 5nl, 10nl, and 25nl, or even 50nl. My friendm don't get out there to deep. Play some of these low levels and test your experience first.

Bankroll management is a have to learn unless you plan to lose a little here and there without the understanding of what to do to hang onto your BR when things just don't go good. When your BR goes down, and I don't mean a lose of $1000, you have to move down with it, and I don't care if that has to be down to 2nl. But you can go up with your BR too. But kidd, I would like for you to start at a low level, and test what you know. But that's no for me to tell you. We all learn our own way. I learned the hard way and I lost a lot of money before I joined Cardschat and being serious about learning from good players. Just let us know how you are doing.

Hay kiddk88 have you started playing any yet? If so, I for one would like to know how you are doing. And if you have questions, post them here. It is your tread, so I'm sure you can post anything in here. Well you would want it all to be the subject of the beginning, and post other things where they go. But I'm really interested in your adventure. I started at 2nl and when I moved up to 5nl it was a funny feeling like I was lost. The same was true when I moved up to 10nl. I have never been able to go any higher because I didn't have the money I needed to lean on and not worry about losing my whole BR in one hand. Well GL to you

Patience and perseverance. I've been making my way to poker being my main job for a few months now (still not there yet), and all I can say is don't let bad beats get you down. You must remove as much emotion as possible from the game. Think of yourself as a closer in baseball, or a penalty kicker in soccer. You just have to shut out the world, and do your job.

Play as many of your hands using good strategies, and you should eventually start trending upward. It is all about finding the tipping point, but beware, because that tipping point can go down, just as quickly as it can go up.

I don't want to discourage you but I think you are wasting your time. I think it's a very difficult game to beat, and it is tough to win. I am not sure what the stats are but prob over 90% of players are losing players.

Very few have the luck, temperament, ability, aptitude, patience and whatever it takes to win. I had played poker, with some success from about 2000 till 2016. I played PLO and NL holdem. I have been backed in cash games as well as big wsop tour tournaments. In December 2015 I walked away from the game. Have not been inside a casino or played online, and I have not missed it.

I think you would be better off doing something more productive with the money. In 8 years of grinding in live games, I have only seen one consistent, big winner, and this guy is world class.

I think it is not necessary to quit your job. First, you need to start earning poker. When will be a good and stable income with poker. Only then you should think to devote his time to poker.
