Stuck on 5000chips

In tournaments when I reach 5000chips i just go card dead.Everytime i reach 5000chips just start losing hand after hand before I know it I am down to 2000 then I reach back to about 5000-6000 then down again.I don't know why this happens.

well if you're card dead, you shouldn't be losing hand after hand, becuase you shouldn't be playing too many of these poop hands.

maybe once you reach 5000 you're mentally feeling more inclined to play hands since you have an edge in chips?

Then this is the time to try to play position and steal an occasional blind. Everybody goes card dead at one point or another of a tourney. You just have to find another way to get chips. This also could be a leak in your game. Master this and make more FTs.

Yeah, it's almost bound to happen...I almost prefer it happen early so I won't be stuck with crap cards around the cash point...It only takes a few small pots to keep you heathy during these periods.

This happens to me too. Get a great start in the beggining but I dont go card dead - more like brain dead - and start playing like a mouse! I honestly think that its a mental thing and not so much a card thing...

Perhaps a few bad experiences have made you "freeze" due to being donked out of your stack and you fear it happening again. My cards also all start looking bad at a certain point in a tourney and I often go from being hero to zero at the table.

If that is the case then it is a tough one! I have yet to find a way around this one....

maybe you should play 45 person sit n go's usually 4500-5000 gets you to the final table

Loool, good idea. but seriously, I have never tried one of those and maybe its time hey! Im always game to try anthing once...

IMO, you're prolly playing too many hands.

I have that problem sometimes too. Thats when u sit back ,and as said already, steal blinds and play position. Or do like me and when my ADHD starts to get the better of me I will go :smokin: and just take a breather. U cant allow urself to get over active just cause u have an edge in chips.

i get that way too, then get whittled down because im playin to get lucky. like gettin dealt suited connectors or A-poop suited in hopes to flop a flush. you gotta pick your spots.

Hello

Well if your reaching 5000 chips you probably do feel
inclined to play more hands since you think you have a
little bit of an edge on everyone else. what i think you
should do is once you hit that mark, set your sights a
little higher and go for 8-10k, just play tight until you reach
it because if your cardead anyways you shouldnt be playing
too many hands.

I always have that feel too. I'm sitting at 5k for a while and it just seems like I'm stuck there. I realize I have to make a big move soon or there is no chance at me winning the game. It usually ends in me losing though.
