So, many avid poker followers may already be aware that the esteemed Phil "Poker brat" Hellmuth is well known for turning up to major poker events dressed as Gandalf/Julius Caesar and others to name a couple.
What do you think about this - is this great showmanship for the game or just a case of Phil being Phil, does it bring great attention to the game in a positive sense or not?

Have any of you attended a poker event in fancy dress or would you?

Keen to know your thoughts..

AR AR AR AR (Ive naturally dressed up to a charity poker event of course!) :)

He's been doing this for years.
I liked him dressed up as Caeser lol.
I don't think it affects the pokerworld that much.
Better this then his rants

I rather him do that for fun and sense of humor purposes than to be bitching and moaning just because he lost and acts entitled to people cause he lost thinking he should always win.

Sure, if there was money involved like there is for PH.

It's just promotional stuff. Whether it's for a sponsor or for the name 'Phil Helmuth' there's money to be made in the long run:)

If you dress nice, you add class to the game, people will think you're a rock! I mean dress up in a suit! If you dress fun, casual, you're thought of as a bit more looser! The way you dress means more than your online avatar but not THAT much more!
As a celebrity, him doing that adds more fanfare to the proceedings & gives ESPN something to talk about!

Hi.
I have never attended a masquerade and I think it would be interesting. Especially considering that I have my favorite dino outfit. :D
Good luck.

PH has probably single handedly brought more people into poker over the years than anyone else. He gets people talking and binge watching all his blowups and tirades on YouTube.

So ya, I think it's great for the game.

Yes, Phil dressing up is good for the game. On a side note I sat with drunk Waldo (Where's Waldo) and his wife and teammate was "Wenda" (also in costume) and a Spiderman with a very "London accent" during the tag team event this year on Halloween, it was great.

It's all about camera time. His motto is "If you don't see a camera then look for one".

I didn't go anywhere in a fancy dress, I'm not such an ardent poker fan to watch someone, I like to take part more, but the masquerade does not affect the game in any way.

Any attention on Phil is attention on poker. So it does help the poker world in some ways. It makes people want to have the chance to be the one to knock him out.

Not that important either way to me though.

For me personally, it doesn't matter what my opponent is wearing.

Hey, whatever tickles his fancy. Doesn't do much for me, though.

I always dress nicely, but for a costume it would need to be Halloween or a special event. I'd be too self conscious otherwise.

I did like his Caeser costume but he brings too much drama to the table when he loses.
Be well
