I live in Belarus. At us the tax to a prize makes 12 percent that is equivalent to surtax. For payment, you need documents confirming receipt of the winnings, for example, an extract from the bank account, in which it is indicated where the money came from. The tax is paid once a year for the reporting period in total for all transactions.

It's strange. I also live in Belarus, but I pay a tax of 13% of my winnings.

Not sure I want to deal with the cold winters in Canada, but it sounds like it's money to be made.

as far as I know, wsop tournaments, and others, the tax is collected at Source, there is a video on YouTube that Akkari explains about it, When you earn a very high value and you need to take the money, or make transfer, through that I understand is collected at the source already, in Vegas and in Brazil you do not have to pay anything.

So you just play and no taxes? What's the cost of living like up there?

Here in Brazil, it imposes a tax on everything, but they still have not discovered how to collect poker money, which continues for a long time.

Some things are same price as in states, like meals in restaurants, gas is more expensive then in the states and sadly alcool beverages are more expensive here also. I think that the cost of living is a little higher then in the states but we have free medicare but we don't have your beautiful warm weather . It's the perfect time to emigrate, the prime minister is putting the migration number up to 340 000 for a few years.

I have a friend that lives in Toronto. I'm thinking of getting my money up and stay out there for 6 months. Trying to avoid the winter. So maybe the summer.

Global warming is making Canada a much warmer place these days! haha
I play in Canada and the US. My winnings in the US have never reached the threshold where I have to pay a stupid 30% tax.
