How much do you guys pay as gaming or gambling tax on winnings in your respective countries and do you guys willingly declare or to God be the glory 😂😂😂 in my country (Kenya) all betting and online casino use mobile money (mpesa) and when you deposit already the taxman takes his share and when you win all deposit and withdrawal are instant and so is the tax deduction. Deposit they take 7.5% and withdrawal it was 5% but I see they raised to 20% . The best part is none of these offer poker so I use the site's we use and I don't pay nor declare 😂😂😂

Big fat zero. Canada doesn't have taxes on gambling or poker winnings. If Canada did I either wouldn't bother playing or I'd move to a country that doesn't have taxes on poker or gambling winnings.

None! only the casino has to pay gambling taxes here, not the player

In Canada there is no tax on winnings, unless the government deems that this is your major source of income.

In Australia there is no tax on gambling winnings.

The legal bar to prove someone is a professional gambler is set intentionally high. If the Australian Tax Office classifies poker as a business, they must legally allow players to claim their tournament entries, travel, and cash game losses as tax deductions. Because most gamblers lose money overall, taxing winnings would often result in a net tax revenue loss for the government.

😂 That 20% withdrawal tax is brutal! I’m definitely glad poker isn’t included in that system. But yeah, with taxes like that, I can understand why people get creative. 😂♠️

Here in California if you get a players share in a poker 'bad beat jackpot ' they make you fill out tax forms before you collect .

No taxes here In South Africa

Might change though . Austria decided after around 20 years to open the online gambling market.
As of now not one pokerroom has a license to operate in Austria . Only the state-owned win2day website and offical casino Austria Apps....
This was going on since forever and now they finally force pokerrooms to acquire a license.

But the conditions are not exactly great for GG, Stars and Co.
Since they never had a license , they operated illegally for decades....
every Austrian player can get every single cent back they deposited throughout the years by court order .
If they want to continue operating in Austria they have to pay every player who makes a claim and they have to shut down their App for Austrian players for 7 months.
They call it a cool off phase.

After the 7 months they can get a license If they have met all conditions.
End of January no more online poker for at least 7 months.


I think only GG will remain and for the smaller rooms it's not worth it

In Croatia, tax is levied only on sports betting; bookmakers charge a handling fee and pay tax on your winnings; winnings from casinos and poker sites are not taxed.

In the USA the IRS automatically withholds 24% of any net winnings greater than $5,000. NY state does have any automatic withholding. Any winnings reported by a W-2G are taxed as normal ordinary income. If one itemizes their federal tax return using a Schedule A or C, you can only claim 90% of your losses. Since I don't play online, I have no idea how the 'legal' online operators handle tax withholding & reporting. Of course using a 'non-legal' poker room, you are at their mercy.

It is a wise idea to consult with a tax professional if you are a USA tax payer.
