when playing poker, but I do better when drinking, and some of the biggest wins are after enjoying a twelve pack. Stone cold sober I just watch the bankroll dwindle.

I dont think its a good idea especially online, but poker is a funny old game.
and strange and amazing things will happen in any given one game.

long term over thousands of games you will 100% be a loser though, since your mental game will be effected, focus, concentration observation, ability to narrow ranges and remember peoples tendencies.

there is no question any given night you are stressed have a drink relax yourself and lift your mood you could have a winning session. But this wont work out as a career plan

In my opinion, drinking and playing poker does not go together well. Of course you can drink a few beers but you can not be drunk. It's fun to sit with colleagues drinking beer and play;-)

Well, a little bit wont matter. But the key to playing well is to concentrate on whats happening in front of you and dont get distracted. Woman are a big distraction.

I enjoy getting buzzed while playing. Its not a good idea to get hammered though. Ive seen many players come to the table smashed and they just talk a lot and give away tells real easy.

I like to drink a little. Calms the nerves and relaxes me. But it can easily pass over into that "I'm drunk let's call and hit an exciting bad beat" which mostly ends up as "Man I missed my 9 high flush draw."

I used to drink while playing a lot and sometimes it felt like it helped calm the nerves etc. but sometimes I crossed the line and it hurt my game. Now that I play more seriously I don't drink except for the occasional home game or freeroll.
It can be really fun to drink and play with buddies when the stakes are low IMO.

I agree that it might make you a little less "scared money" when you just have a slight buzz. But fairly quickly I think you would pass that line and start making bad decisions. I think it's a bankroll killer long term.

Short term success drunk don't mean anything. Stupid shit just happens sometimes, we've all seen that.

Yes I also think you can't really concentrate when you are drunk. To win a poker match you have to be concentrated. But it's quite interesting for me to see what hands can win when I am drunken. And I think I am playing unusual hands. I think you can win some good pots when you are drunk, because you are playing unconscionable, but at the end the whole tournement would be very difficult to win. So don't drink and drive.

I vote for drinking, not drinking to get drunk but drinking to loosen up a bit....It gets you (me) more comfortable/confident hence let me play a bit better

it could cure tilt if you really can't get ahold of any psychodelichs or weed cause your country doesn't like things that progress the human mind and don't kill anyone and help people unless of course you are asshole then maybe it won't do anything and only offer the poison of alcohol that kills millions, but hey some alcohol might solve your problems if it helps you not tilt which I think it does for me, even though I don't drink much at all
