This question is very difficult to answer, for each person you need your time for the concept and study of poker and its strategy!
I've been playing since 2013, I've learned a lot of lessons and strategies, I watched the video and still, I do not consider myself a professional!
In poker it's impossible to become a professional, every year poker evolves and you need to constantly improve your game!

It depends on your abilities, your desire and patience! Learn as much as you like!

ive always been told to play twice as much as you study. so play 6hrs, study 3hrs. for most this is not feasible so id say study 10hrs a week

In poker you can become a professional, but you really can not stop in development. How much time it takes is not known. Each person learns according to his own way.

You need to put the game play and learning strategies on a permanent basis and then the result will be.Any business requires commitment.

I agree with you, that would understand how to play poker: the strategy and tactics of poker, I was one year, engaged only in training, and only then began to play for money, and before that only freerolls.

I think professional means someone who has something as their profession (it's their work). In that case there are a lot of professional poker players. Those who are only playing poker for fun, or as a side income are 'amateur' poker players.

In all seriousness it takes approximately 10k hours to master a skill. That's going to take about 5 years of study and practice.

Your time has value. Time is one of the few things in life that we can never work hard to get more of. Therefore, it is a valuable resource that we must consider when investing. Let's say you value your time at USD $ 100 / hour. Then if you are going to play poker 24/7 you should know that you have to get a money deal from poker, not only waste your time since you would be 100 per hour in which you do nothing or produce.

I play poker about 5 hours a day lol, because I do not live poker ..

What does it help if you learn a lot but do not put that knowledge into action. I think after learning the basics, you should always play much more than study. It is also a problem that people read about new concepts and than completely change their game, that's too much at once (and can cost you a lot) -> a lot of practice, a bit of studying and small adjustments.

Don't waste your time, everyday is a poker day! Study and play every time you have this occasion, watch videos, read articles, books, story's all of that will improve you poker game.

you should try to play couple hours a week, if u like the game and want to continue to improve you have to put in the hours. You can read material to gain knowledge but at some point you have to put that knowledge into practice. I normally play a couple hours a day every day a week, keeps me in form somewhat

You can study by playing...on pokerstars you have a website (poker online school) that offers freerolls and prizes and you can learn poker with that pretty easily.

When I was learning how to play poker, I was playing for 60 hours a week, granted I was in college at the time and could afford to allocate so many hours to the game. If you want to be good at poker, you definitely should be doing something poker related everyday. Watching, playing, reading, studying etc. EVERYDAY!

The best way to improve is to play hands, track your results with a database (especially if you're playing online). Post hands in forums for review. Ask lots of questions. Join / find a study group that has players right around your skill / buyin level and just above.

I'd put watching videos low on the list, but it's also important.

After about a year, you can play solid. 5+ years to be an expert, but each person is different of course.
