Today is the UIGEA day

The UIGEA is supposed to be in full force effective today.

Really, if that so, did they introduced some alternatives on what else we can used to transfer our money? Do you know any sites that does the same way?

Americans can play on all the same sites still, just depositing for us is going to be harder. Which may mean less recreational American players. Hopefully when all these players realize they can't deposit anymore the issue will get more attention.

* And its not just Full Tilt. All sites pretty much that are known gambling sites must be blocked by the banks and credit card companies or face penalties/fines etc.

The federal government failed on this one. It will be up to each State now to help Poker players out. CA and NJ are leading the charge to get their players access to be able to play online. In the case of CA though the bill states that if you play in CA you must play on one of the sites that they approve. if you play on any other site you will be committing a crime. That in a sense is worse for CA players but as long as they play on the regulated sites it is golden.

NJ is wanting to setup something similar where the local casinos in Atlantic City will setup online sites and you will most likely be forced to play on those sites. I guess I am ok with that but I will miss playing on PS and the other sites I enjoy.

You can still deposit directly from your bank account from what I can tell.

I would like some fish and a poker boom Mr. Us Government!!

I thought most banks were already complying with this anyway though.

Is this going to make a big difference in stopping the fish playing and making games tougher or have the ill effects from it already been felt?

I don't live in the US so don't know how difficult it is to deposit there.
Can someone in the US say if its really that hard, and do some people not play because they are under the impression it is illegal?

It's difficult.

I've not heard of any legal action for depositing on a poker site, but the banks make it hard.

I used to be able to use my credit card to deposit to AP/UB, Doyle's Room (back when it was still new-ish).

Now I can only use the direct pay, western union (lol fees... I'm gonna lose the money anyway, just rather do it on the felt), wire transfer, etc.

Overall, they're saving me money.

I went to deposit on FT recently and they said they needed government ID and a bank statement (again...)

I assume it's going to get very hard for me to continue depositing which makes me count down days to the end of the deployment...

i have heard that g2go prepaid visas are working what about netspend? and for that matter how is giving access to your bank account to these sites safer not to mention making it easier, tempting and more dangerous to the out of hand gambler that they claim they are protecting by blocking all visas including prepaid visas that are no way act as credit, debit and no affiliation with your bank funds Prepaid visas are like money orders with no risk to banks nor the economy with the cardholder paying all fees and transactions for thier use?
