Hi all,

I love the game of poker and am completely fascinated by the social and logical complexity of it. Do you think that one can play it to much? I take one day off a week but that's it. What do you all think?

...you try to apply EV to everyday life?Although that's actually handy. Good at poker => analytical thinking => better decisions regardless of situations :D

My day off is Monday. I start at 6am and end around 11pm. I take 3 one hour breaks during the day to keep me balanced.

That would be much too much for me. Do not you have a reduction in your results? What are you doing in the 3 hour break you go out?

Playing every day (regardless of whether the whole day or only in the evenings), a person easily gets tired mentally and physically. And even if it is good to sleep and eat, the brain still gets tired and he needed rest. When you play a lot, all thoughts are busy with the game, for a day the human experiences a lot of emotions. It's stress for the whole body. I believe that it is necessary to take a break in a few days at least once in 2-3 weeks, completely forgetting about poker.

I have about 2 months now where I'll have quite a bit more time to play so will probably play a couple hours most days online and then hopefully a day or two a week live for 6-9 hours a session. But return to live probably won't come until June so will be grinding my challenge online in meantime which has naturally fallen into a schedule of playing multiple smaller sessions a day on days I play (1-3 hr sessions). But I definitely have times where I won't play for a week or more either because of being really busy or just not feeling it; and we want to be feeling it to play well!

LUDOPATIA: The gambling is a disorder in which the person is forced by a psychologically uncontrollable urgency to play and bet, persistently and progressively, negatively affecting personal, family and vocational life.

I think we are all ludopatos with poker.

You can play too much if it's affecting your life in a negative way. Skipping important events to play poker or losing the rent payment for example. Poker can be fun and sometimes profitable but I'm betting most people playing the game would be far better off putting their money into some mutual funds instead.

Poker does not happen a lot, I play every spare minute and it's enough for me!

I'm at a point right now where I've allocated enough time and to play/learn poker on a semi serious basis. When I'm not playing, I enjoy life outside of my house, go for a jog or hang out with friends.

In my opinion you do whatever works for you. You really have a plan,so just stick with it. And it want hurt you at all to take some other breaks. I call my cleaning the apt. as a break, and I get me a good hot shower after that, and it's like magic. When you feel good, you will play good. Just from my experience of my last 2 weeks, I have not felt good at all, and I know if I play, I WILL lose. Sometimes you have to make yourself get away from the game and clear your mind.

Thank you for all of your posts.

I think I'm doing the right thing because i love doing. Once a week I take a day and do something completely different. I do agree that when I feel good I play good.
