What was the toughest hand you ever folded, and why did you decide to let it go?

A straight flush in a 10 dollar home game. A nitty friend of me moved allin over my bet on the river on a 10dJdQdKdx board. I had the nine of diamonds. Given how the guy played it was not the most difficult fold actually.

I often had to fold a straight, realizing that my opponent most likely had a flush.

The toughest fold I’ve ever made was laying down pocket Kings pre-flop during a deep run in a multi-table tournament. I raised, a very tight player re-raised, and then an extremely passive player moved all-in for a massive stack. My gut told me someone had Aces, and it was a painful decision, but I managed to find the fold button. It turned out the passive player indeed showed Pocket Aces! It taught me that sometimes a disciplined fold is just as valuable as a double up. What about you guys, do you trust your gut in spots like this?

That ^ was your toughest fold?
If you're hoping for more success at poker, I'd suggest having a closer look at the basics of the game 😉

Toughest fold for me. I folded KK pre-flop to make the final table of a $22 MTT on Pokerstars......because of that fold I went on too win the whole thing a little over an hour later. I was in the BB a nit raised from UTG and another nit re-raised from the SB I just called wanting to see a flop but nope the UTG nit shoved all-in and the SB snap called(had call checked off you could tell). I pretty used the whole clock before shaking my head and folding. Both had AA. The board and run-out came up blank. They split the hand and I showed my folded KK. One of the few times I ever folded KK in a non-satty MTT.

Cheers!!!

Then I’m yet to be dealt cards that need to be folded in a manner for them to be called the toughest fold! 😜

It has been difficult for me to retire with two pairs or trios, seeing that there is a probability of ladder or color on the table, lately I have learned to retire even though it is difficult but it is necessary, because there is a 90% chance that if they have a better game.

Folding KK preflop on two separate occasions. In one case, the opponent had AA, and the fold was correct; in the other, the opponent had QQ, and I ended up folding the best hand.
A decision should not be judged solely by its outcome. If you fold because you believe your opponent has pocket aces, you may be right or wrong. What matters is whether your read and the available information justified the decision.

The fitted sheet off a double or Kingsize bed is the toughest fold I ever have to make, there is simply no way to make these things flat!!

Sounds like a super easy fold! I mean you put the guy on Aces... right?

I think the toughest fold is a strong hand when you’ve already put a lot of chips in, but the opponent’s action makes it hard to see what you’re beating. It’s tempting to call just to find out. Letting go and never knowing whether you were right might be the hardest part.

Last month I won a hand that was mathematically almost impossible, it was Allin pre-flop, AA x KK X JJ (me)
flop: 2K 7 - J - J

It was practically a miracle operated hahah

One of the toughest folds is when you have an overpair or top two pair and the opponent suddenly puts in a huge river raise after playing passively the whole hand. Your cards look too strong to fold, and part of you wants to call just to see what they have. But when the line makes little sense for a bluff and their range is heavily weighted toward stronger hands, you have to trust the analysis rather than your attachment to your cards. Those folds hurt when you see a bluff later, but I’d rather make a disciplined fold based on the information available than make a bad call just because I’m curious. A good fold doesn’t need to win the pot to be the right decision.
