Hi, I am not sure what do you mean with that question. It is not a 2016 phenomenon to limp from the small blind especially with a 910s for example. Also give some more information did all of the rest players fold? Is it a particular hand or it is every time everywhere? Also there is not such a thing like a trend in poker. Nothing is modern or old. Since the beginning of poker there are nearly all possible combination of cards dealt and there are only 52 cards in the deck. You can't develop something new and make it a "trend". Also if you have seen 3 donks to enter all-in with 72o you can't also call it a trend but a stupid decision.

I mean a raise from an average hand strength

Well if you are the small blind with 10Q and everybody folded to you you may try to min raise in order to steal the big blind but I don't think this was something done for the first time in 2016.

Don't you think that you actually had the best hand when BB folds after all QT is well above BB's avg hand, and it's even above he's range to defend BB with
