Turbo vs Normal Sit n Gos

Which do you think is the most profitable to play of turbo sit n gos and normal ones?

Obviously ROI is going to be lower in turbos for the skilled player but the turbos also take a shorter time to play.

I have a good ROI in normal sit n gos but I havn't played many turbos so can't really compare. The player traffic seems to be higher on the turbos on Stars though so I wonder if there are more donks.

If you want to get volume in you probably need to play the turbos. The variance will be higher but if you are a profitable player you should make more money.

I personally prefer and play the regular speed sng's. Volume is not a priority for me and I am more comfortable with the lower variance. I like having more time to build my chip stack and to get reads on the other players before it gets short-handed.

I don't like the Turbo's as much as the regulars just because I prefer to be patient. With the turbo, I often feel forced to play hands since the blinds go up so fast. I can see the turbo being great if you hit a had and get paid off early once or twice, but if you wait on a hand it may never come. You end up pushing with a pair or an Ace...

I seem to do well on the turbos. I like the structure on carbon, FT levels seem to move up a little quicker and forces you to play more.

I prefer turbos. They allow more games to be played which means more money. If you like being patient, regular speed is the way to go, while with turbos you need a good endgame and good ICM knowledge.

I play both but prefer the normal SnG's because you can sit back and wait for the right cards.

My thoughts exactly. Playing in the normal S&G's give more time to play. The structure is much better, IMO, when you are given the opportunity to play longer, as opposed to being forced to play a hand you normally wouldn't because the blinds are being raised often.

I think an online turbo is about the same number of hands between blinds that you would get as when you play live tournys. Anyone agree?

I play turbos to keep as close to the live tourny pace as I can.

I think better players will do much better at normal sng's. Turbos bring luck into the picture more. It took me a while to figure out why I had a big difference in success at normal vs turbo. In turbos I was waiting too long to play hands before I would have to shove with hands like QT. I now only play turbos if I'm short on time.

turbos = high variance
Normal sngos are the way to go, especially if you`re an ex cash player
I only play turbos or super turbos when I want to blow of some steam, or when I`m involved in a large tournament and I get bored.

Whichever my $/hr is better at.

That means traditionally I've played turbos but I'm finding turbos at the levels I'm at now actually have much stronger fields than the standard games - almost every table had 3-4 multi tabling regs with good ICM knowledge while the standard games were full of droolers and donkeys. So I've switched to them for the time being.

For now I prefer the regular SNG's over the turbo SNG's...It gives me more time to play my cards more accurately...that's what I need right now as I progress in learning my own style in Poker!:angel:

I prefer normal SNGs but I seem to do better at turbos due to my pathetic attention span. I think the better players definitely play regular ones though.

turbos for the 9 person SnG's. 18, 27 person SnG's I play the regular ones. You need the extra time so when you go card dead you aren't forced to make moves.

I like the regular ones myself. The turbos seem to make the player rush too much. They will be betting too much thinking they have to. I like to play good hands in position, so turbos don't really work for me.

I like the turbos. I like the table having pressure on the players to play and not sit back. If you hang out and play the fold game too long you find yourself shortstacked.

I agree with most players on here... Turbos bring a lot of luck but if you're a good player and have a decent bankroll to survive the high variance then you should expect to win money in the long run.... I would prefer the regular sit'n'gos for a higher tourney but turbos will do for a micro limit since most players there won't know when to push, fold, or call.... You can expect to win a good amount of their bad decisions here.. Just don't let there lucky wins and bad beats get you off you're game...

I rekon the normal SnG's are the most profitable. I think theres more skill involved in them and so therefore, if you back yourself agaisnt the other players, you should win more often then you lose. Turbos are just abit too unreliable for me..

Ive taken down both turbos and normal SnG's and to be honest ill be first to tell ya at the Final table of the turbo its basically a luck fest if u catch a heater ur good to go if u go card dead nothing can save you. from my prespective i enjoy the normal ones more even tho they take more then twice the time to finish the satisfaction of winning one is incomprable to that of a turbo cause you know that skill and not luck was the determining factor.

hah, i found it the other way around on PS, seems like the turbos are full of gambling idiots.. i generally prefet turbos as i can play a higher volume, usually only 4 at a time, but since i may only have 3 hours to play, its def turbos for me

Just played a few $10 turbos double or nothing turbos today multitabling 3 tables and they are indeed seem to be full of gambling idiots, who just push all in preflop all the time.

I did terribly and lost about $100 overall and the bad beats were insane, and simply nothing would hold up when I had the best hand.

The most ridiculous were when I lost with AA to K7s and JJ to 106o back to back when I went all in preflop on 2 tables.

I don't think I'll want to play any turbos again any time soon.

thats the issue with Turbos though they force you to widen your range significantly or risk getting blinded out the action is so much faster in turbos that bigger stacks form faster and your fold equity drops like a brick unless you can play an aggressive brand of poker

You have to get good cards in the turbos. Plus, it's harder to bluff in them, since the blinds go up so quickly. But, if you catch a couple of really nice hands in the first 15 minutes you should do okay.

I think there is more donks at the turbos that is why I play normal sngs
