Turbo's or normal Sit and go's

Hello,

I am playing a lot of 6,60 (6 max) sit and go's on pokerstars. And my ROI is oke. But i wonder what do you guys think is beter playing turbo's so you can play more (but lose a little of yourre edge becausse blinds go faster) or the normal one's so you can take yourre time and kill the vilians slow but steady?

I would like some thought on that one.

I prefer the Non-turbos. Youre less rushed to go in with a questionable hand and can often wait out a couple of positions by just playing tight.
I dont mind the turbos so much when Im rushed but I'd suggest not going to the "SuperTurbos". Not much strategy with those.

Actually I prefer the turbos, for the same reasons that you mentioned. What I mean, is if I'm being pressured to make a move the table at the same time is also being pressured to make moves. Now UL turbos, are really the games, i prefer (Those the ones with 2min blind levels). Not much startagy in those games, also, the moves that ppl make in those are so ridiculous that it's mind boggoling to think these ppl are actually playing for money

I stay away from turbos. Poker is a game which requirs patience and working out your opponents. Turbo is a speed game designed by the poker sites to increase the turnover rate. Be patient and you will still maintain your rate of return and probably even increase it.

I stay away from the Turbos as well. Whenever I a rushed to make decisions I tend to make bad ones. Patience is a key long term poker skill and turbos make it easy to be impatient.

It depends on your forte. if you're good at late game play, turbo is better. if you better in early - mid stage, normal ones will be better.

Turbo's can b profitable if you have quite a tight hand selection. One early double up can often give you a real edge as everyone else is under serious pressure playing catch-up. I steer clear of the 3 min blinds though...way too much pressure to make moves you usually wouldn't. The 5 or 6 min blind turbo's (depending on your site) are ok, a 9 seat turbo is gonna last around 40 mins compared to an hour for a standard game. Take notes on your opponents and get involved in games with loose players though - it can get very frustrating when your down to 3 ultra tight players and no-one wants to make a move!

is it the good time to chip up thru them and shoot for first place?

If you feel like you play better with smaller blinds and bigger stacks in a Sng format then non-turbos are probably best, if you are confident in ICM and know basic push/fold spots with bigger blinds and shorter stacks then turbos are best.

Being honest though, the difference is pretty small. Certainly don't require huge strategy changes.

It all depends on what you are comfortable doing. I love turbos and I cash a lot in turbos, I love playing non turbos and I do just as good as I do in turbos. My take on it is, I enjoy the turbos a lot more because they don't take as long, plus the players in turbos are super weak, and easy to get chips from. ***This only applies to pokerstars****
On tilt I play the non turbo games.

with turbo you're allowing the blinds to increase at a much more rapid pace. By doing so, more of your money is at risk before cards are dealt, and hence, the element of chance/luck increases. I would only play turbo heads up as it could otherwise take some time, but if i'm playing a MTT, i wouldn't play turbo.

I'm a Turbo guy. I'm willing to rick the chance/luck for time. I always seem to have some other commitment that don't afford me as much time as I need to play.

i way prefer normal to turbo...to me turbo,s only benefit the house...i like haveing a short time to get a drink ect.

For the sake of Poker, turbo is probably not the way to go. I've played alot of brick and mortar casino poker and have never played turbo in "real life". I like to think of online as a chance to practice hand selection for live poker. Online you obviously don't get the real off of people but can develop reading betting habits. The further you get from the fundamentals of the game, less benefit you get from playing the game. On the other hand however, turbo can be a fun way to develop patience. I have found that playing in turbo, waiting for cards can be more difficult than a slow paced game. The blinds going up faster seem to make the decisions to seem more frantic (even though they're not). If you wait for a good starting hand and bet big when they hit you can get way out in front pretty quickly. Once out in front I really put people on a decision every time that i get good cards preflop. This adds to their panic...a fast clock, short levels, and big chip decisions. It's a recipe for disaster. But as always big bets can equal big swings so timing is even more important than usual. Anyway, probably more than what you were looking for when you asked the question, but it was fun to think about!!!

In turbo tournements you need more luck than the normal tournements.
If you play good you should play the normal ones!
In those ones you can get the chips of the bad players more easily...
