Is "Variance" just another term for "Luck"?

The concept of variance exist just to explain "luck". I read a paper ince about poker statistics. The autores played different rooms 100.000 hands in each one and took notes on the results. The conclusion is that the odds really work when you play a significant numbers of hands. In another words, yes there is a variance in statistics, but in the end this is predictible.

Luck does not exist, so they had to find a new name for it
