Want to sign up to a new site

I've been away from playing poker for a while now and I'm looking to start back up again. I'm an American player and was wondering about rake back and prop players. How does this stuff work? How do I qualify, and what would be the best place to do this at?

Far better to have a great learning resource like CC than some fly by night place that is only after kickbacks and isn't concerned if you succeed or not.
