Well, despite being quite an ass overall, he really didn't exceed the ban threshold up until just recently when he got a running start and hurdled over it. He skirted it very well though. I'm sure someone could make a reasonable argument that he should have been booted earlier. But that same reasoning applied across the board would also wind up booting two (just off the top of my head) other well liked members. Everything is a case by case basis.

He can log in all he likes, but since he's banned all he'll see is a mostly blank screen and his ban notice posted front and center for his reading pleasure. He can't read the forums, can't post, and can't PM.
