What do you feel in your stomach when you play $$$

I've been playing for more than 10 years and always the same feeling...like butterflies dancing in my stomach .... I think it's interesting to feel always the same after the years... it's love? what do you feel people?

If you feel anything in your stomach while you're playing then you're probably playing for too high stakes. It's extremely difficult --- perhaps even impossible --- to play well if you're risking an amount of money that it will bother you to lose.

You didn't mention whether you're a winning player or not, and perhaps you are. I certainly don't know. What I do know is that I'm never nervous or anxious at the tables (physically or virtually) anymore because I'm very comfortable with the stakes I play. That, however, was not always the case.

I agree, if you feel like nervous or butterflies in your stomach on each hand then you're likely playing for amounts that are to meaningful to you.

I've sometimes played in tournaments or cash games which are above the amounts I'd normally play. This leads to the same feelings you seem to get.

It happened to me only at cashgame tables. Thats why I stopped to play it. I wasnt able to play my A game and I couldnt enjoy game... In SNG or MTT its okay, I feel confident, never affraid to make a move and I have fun.

I don't feel nervous butterflies but I do feel adrenaline during big hands with game changing potential...even in tournaments so it is not playing over my head that produces this...just the thrill of the game...

That's understandable, as your losses are capped in a SNG or MTT. Not so at cash game table.

i still have that feeling every time i play cash even that it is micro, it is less tension in micro mtt or stt sng but steel feeling little nervous, im really comfortable playing every FR but when im deep in the money or close to higher place i get nervous, even almost cant sit still in my chair

I agree whole heartedly. If I place in an MTT for an amount say; 100.00-3. I will drop in a big 2/4 or higher cash table to play my blinds to see what it is like....I have won a hundred really quick and was surprised. Then I have lost a hundred or more "really quick". I had more than butterflies, I didn't breathe the entire time and experienced high blood pressure. Only due to the fact I was way out of my league. So I stay away from those bad boys! :beer:

Good point guys, I never see it in that way before. I'm feel a bit more confident on tourneys until the cash comes... My personality is very anxious I think thats why I feel it almost every time I play.
Any recommendations? eat gum? something?

Do you think it is possible you are playing stakes higher than you should be?

Mmmm not usually, I'm ocasional player..sometimes I take the risk in middle stakes games...but then I back to low stakes and it´s the same. Actually I don't have any bankroll strategy, I just play what I feel. I think the fight it's with my anxious personality.

Yes you are right ofcourse. And also I didnt play with proper bankroll management that time when I played cashgame, cause my bankroll was that small. So it was probably second reason

I think I would have same "problem" if I would play tourney for 10-20% of my bankroll.

You shouldn't feel anything at all. And like HooDooKoo said, if you do, you are playing for too much. I definitely recommend playing small SNGs to build your roll before playing cash games because IMO, SNGs are easier to grind.. especially low-staked ones.

When I sit down to a live tourney, I ALWAYS feel the butterflies. It doesn't matter if this is a daily $80 buyin at a regular casino or the $10K buyin to the wsop main event. It just gets me jazzed up ... as they say, I'm just happy to be there. Also, I almost always have a quivering hand when I rake in my first pot, regardless of the size of the pot or the size of the tourney.

I understand the butterflies waiting for the tournament to begin or VERY early in the tournament, so perhaps I overstated things a bit. But if that's how you feel all the time that you're playing then you're probably in over your head.

I feel my heartbeat increase when I am in a hand and make that push, It doesn't even have to be an All in push and It doesn't matter the limits, I could be in a WSOPC event, or a $5 sng I just love the feeling of the game, and how you never know what will happen, Whether you have Aces, or flop the nut straight. The turn and river always can change anything. It really gets my adrenaline going. I gotta say> feels like love to me LOL But hey that's just me ladies and gentleman. (and by the way, I am an adrenaline junkie romantic...love the fast paced sports, like skydiving, paintball, motorcycling, and ice hockey)

After few years of playing cash games and understanding of bankroll management you stop feeling the pressure. Frustration when you loose a hand to a bad beat or a very bad play? Maybe. But after a while you are not bothered by bad beats no more.

Well the other day all I felt in my stomach was indigestion and I had it very bad.

It had nothing to do with poker, after my diet day I went for a meal and ate too much so on my next diet day I was very ill.

I never have any feelings in my stomach playing poker, the only times I get butterflies in my stomach is when I am going to an interview.

I did get very excited once when I was playing in a FTP freeroll and I was close to getting a ticket for the next round, my heart was beating very fast and my hand was shaking a little that I nearly misclicked, sad really
