What Do You Love About Poker?

I love all the aspects of poker. Kills time, love the math behind it, love the bluffing and playing the player instead of playing the cards. It's gotta be the best card game out there.

At different times, all the above would a true answer. To convey 1 single target of enjoyment maybe just the adventure of poker. Playing, Learning, adjusting, figuring out the unknown.

I love strategy, I don't like chance very much because it always goes bad for me instead when I have good hands and it is not against me because I do excellent with my strategies

The first thing I liked about poker when I started playing it was competing against my opponents, but actually what I loved the most about this game was when reading reading my opponents trying to guess or decipher what cards my opponents were holding here was where I saw the true art of poker in reading, because if we have good reading we can further exploit our game and sacred advantage or make the best fold.

i really seriously dont know what got me into poker, but im so addicted to it. i played recreationally at age of 8, and the adrenaline and hype it gave me when you win big and lose fast then win again got me more and more into it. after years of knowing tactics and players i loved it so much and wanted to play more for money.

That's a good question. I originally got into it because I got licenced to deal poker at a new casino going up in our city. I guess that's where I started playing regularly. I think now it's a bit of habit because I don't seem to enjoy it as much as I used to. I get bored and play reckless
I agree totally with the love/hate thing you described..
To be honest, CC is now a big part of why I keep coming back. I feel a tiny bit obligated to keep my status here because of how generous they are. I just wish I had more time to delve into the site more deeply. Especially the free poker courses.. I think I need some reminders of the basics, and some new tips too. The people here are a bonus as well

Other than that.. I really don't know why I keep coming back. Maybe I'm just a sucker for punishment lol

I've never heard this Annie Duke quotation before, but I like it. No one likes bad beats against them, but this is a positive way to view them - it is looking much more macro scale at the game than simply getting through the moment. Annie Duke is a smart poker player I respect - they always seem to have a great insight that I didn't think of in quite that manner. I wouldn't have thought this about bad beats for sure, but now that it is said this way: it sounds correct.

Yes! The first part is her quote before the / the rest is me sort of summarizing what she was saying following the quote and some from my own view. Don’t want to misquote her but the first portion definitely is her quote/view and it works!!

I would LOVE if If there was a “Ask the Holdem dealer” thread or something similar, I have questions!!

I always find it interesting how dealers can be so sharp at dealing the game! I would love to hear stories from the dealers side!

I love the rush of winning , the luck factor is fun too, when players get upset. On calls some players make, I find it funny , with the sore losers. I look at it as gambling , any 2 cards can win. I have lost more with aces and kings, then with j 10 . Poker is exciting with making the right calls , at the right times.

we didn't have holdem at the casino yet when i took the course. it was caribbean stud, pai gow and let it ride. i don't remember much about any of them either to be honest

Bad Beats are an essential part of Poker. There are a lot of people who complain that they drink a lot of Bad Beats. But look at the following point of view: It's 9 at the table. This means that when you enter the game, the chance of a Bad Beat occurring is 8 account 1! How to deal with it? That is the question we have to answer in order to be successful at Poker. I found my answer. You should look for yours! lol

Making a correct read on your opponent is a thrilling feeling as well as executing a successful bluff. Also knowing you made the right decision no matter the outcome is a satisfying feeling, because even if you lose you can be confident in the way you play and that your strategies when executed properly are advantageous.
