What do you think about Poker becoming Olympic sport?

Unfortunately, Poker still suffers from many prejudices in world society. I believe that with this "final" step our beloved sport will be recognized as it deserves.

I love poker, but I would not like to see him at the Olympic Games. The Olympic Games were in the beginning bearing a strong message of peace (today this sense has been lost) but still offer a lot of joy to all of us who love sports.

Poker is not a classic sport (the question is whether it's a sport at all)

Any thing is possible. Not sure how it would play out. As a HU type tournament or as a small fields type MTT. Hate to say never, there are some pretty lame Olympic events.

It would be very cool if poker was included in the list of Olympic sports! I believe that poker is genius and that it is banned in some countries stupid and unfair .. This game is worthy to take its place among the major sports on an equal footing with chess for example!

The aforementioned "where does it end" post in re tiddlywinks, chess etc. is spot on. At least one skill competition, chess, has had sponsors for Olympics inclusion going back to the twenties. All have failed.

Shouldn't physical prowess be a significant determinative factor in deciding inclusion? If it is, then shouldn't doping to gain an unfair advantage be determinative?

From Wikipedia on chess as an Olympic sport: "Research carried out by the Dutch chess federation failed to find a single performance-enhancing substance for chess.[7] According to Dr Helmut Pfleger, who has been conducting experiments in the field for around twenty years, "Both mentally stimulating and mentally calming medication have too many negative side effects".[7] "

Seems basic.
