What I want to get out of poker feels like a really long-term question and I'm about as beginner as it gets. I learned the rules circa a year ago and have been working on my game since then (in great part to CardsChat :) ), but only playing online freerolls so far and never even been to a casino before. If I improve, then I'll take the next steps in my poker journey, but in increments. Slowly play more competitive games and slowly moving up in stakes according to bankroll management if I'm consistently winning where I'm at. I'm willing to study, learn and put in the time/effort into improving at poker - but I still feel like I'm also just starting out in many ways.

Once the pandemic is over, I plan to visit a casino for the first time (I never went in the past, because the nearest casino to where I live is a long drive away). Once I take in the atmosphere and the flow of the place, then I might try my hand at the lowest of micro levels and see how I do - only moving up when I'm comfortably crushing the games I'm in. :D

Nice forum thread question though; I'm eager to hear what others hope to gain from poker too :)
