I'm looking to improve my game and I wanted to hear from your experience:
What made the most difference in your evolution in poker? Was it watching videos, studying hands, playing a lot, coaching, using software...?

If you could go back in time, what would you do differently at the start of the journey?

What helped me the most was watching other people play, I really like to see the hands of “Romulus” or “Zeros”, they helped me at the beginning to understand how poker worked, because I didn't know anything, and because I was doing one or another action, after understanding a little more I got to where I am now trying to play several tournaments and studying some hands.
I'm not good, but I would say that helps you know where to start

My entry into a poker team, living and exchanging experiences with people who have already gone through the process helps you evolve a lot, however, it depends a lot on you, having the discipline to continue committed to becoming an increasingly better player.

If I could go back to the day I started, the first thing I would do is create a CardsChat account. In fact, from the day I became a member of the community, poker started to bring me income :)

I feel it helped a lot to watch poker related content and to hear the reasoning of the pros for the decisions they made in certain situations.
I also feel the famous saying of Gary player applies: "The more I practise, the luckier I get".

Be thankful for the mistakes. Mistakes shows you exactly what you need to improve in your gameplan. To know about pot odds is very important to be a winning player in the long run and helps you know when to hold and to fold a hand.

Honestly, the biggest boost came from regularly reviewing my own hands and analyzing other players. Just playing a lot is fine, but if you’re not figuring out where you messed up, it doesn’t help much. Once I started using software like PokerTracker, I immediately spotted tons of leaks.
High-quality videos helped too (not random stuff on YouTube, but more like Upswing or RIO). When you watch how strong players think, you slowly start seeing spots better yourself.
And of course — plain experience. After playing 100k hands, your brain just starts sensing when to fold and when to shove 😄

If I could go back:
– Less ego, more fundamentals
– Wouldn’t jump into high stakes right away
– Would’ve bought a HUD and started taking notes way earlier

How are you improving your game these days?

a little bit of everything I think that what gave me the most was watching videos and intensive playing I would watch more but I have too little passion for learning and there is not much training content in my language

What helped me evolve in poker was playing a lot and persisting because every beginning is difficult until you get the hang of it and learn the right way to play, learning to read the players according to the plays they make.

Well, in my case, it's definitely CardsChat! I've been playing on PokerStars for 13 years and somewhere 1-2 times per month I could achieve some success in tournaments. I started to play much better after registering on this forum. And now, if I didn't make the final table in any tournament in the last 24 hours - it's a bad result for me. Therefore, I am certainly grateful to CardsChat, which helped me in a difficult moment of my life.

Training videos on the Internet hands down. And then playing as much as possible and trying to put into practice some of the things I learned.

Perhaps, for the best learning of the game, it is better to use everything - read books, watch instructional videos, watch streams. If I go back in time, I probably would have watched more streams of good players.

Study your opponents. Most poker players have their own style of play. Noticing the repetitive actions of your opponents at the table can help you draw conclusions for competing effectively with them.Play carefully when sitting in the blinds or early positions. Try to lose a minimum of chips, play "at zero" or only with strong cards.

To evolve in poker, consistent study and practice are essential. This includes reviewing hand histories, analyzing your mistakes, and learning from more experienced players. Reading strategy books, watching training videos, and using poker software tools like solvers or tracking programs can also sharpen your understanding. Joining forums or discussion groups like CardsChat helps you see different perspectives. Equally important is working on your mental game—managing tilt, staying focused, and maintaining emotional control. A well-balanced lifestyle with proper rest, exercise, and healthy habits also contributes to better long-term performance at the tables.

If I had to start from scratch, I would definitely focus on studying proper bankroll management. I believe it's one of the most important aspects of the game. Playing with a bankroll that can't support you through variance makes it much harder to take calculated risks — and in poker, taking risks is part of everyday play. In my opinion, mastering bankroll management is key to long-term success.
