Should I ever win a big money tourney
I will, first of all, give 10% to my church and/or a favorite charity
(theTithe)

then I would buy my great-grandson a nice car

and help out some of my wife's needier family members

I would give a gift to the whole family because it was a way to make someone happy and if it was a larger amount it would help

The best gifts are the meaningful ones; the ones with an inside joke, or a story behind it - something which comes from the heart

With this being said, having a larger budget is nice (like after winning a big poker tournament), but it isn't required. What gift I decide to give will greatly depend on who I'm giving it to and what gift I think they would want

Lol I assume you could also make this gift without any wins

I would gift my father a new kitchen because his need a renovation for quite some time now and I'd pay off some debts of my mother-in-law.

Finally I'd invite them all to a nice vacation.

Well I'm not sure what big is but let's say 100k I'd take a trip with them play some live tournaments a couple days and enjoy the rest of then doing amazing things. If it was like a million maybe some jewelry or even then a trip. I wouldn't be on a gifting spree. I'm sure I'm down a couple hundred k in my gambling career. "Not poker" poker I'm up in live tournaments and online, definitely minus in the cash game. Now if I won the world series of poker main for 8 9 mill then I'd be gifting alot more

Yes, as clichéd as it sounds, the best gift is cash. And it doesn't matter to whom you give it to your wife, mother, or friend. Let them buy whatever they want themselves.
