We’ve all had that unforgettable moment—the first time you shipped a tournament or took down a big pot and thought, "Okay, I’m officially hooked."
For me, it wasn’t just the cash; it was the pure rush of outsmarting the table through patience and strategy.
What was your very first big win like, and what made you fall in love with poker?

I think one of the best things about poker is the feeling you get when a good decision pays off. It’s not always about winning a big amount of money, but also about learning to read other players, stay patient, and make the right moves under pressure. That’s what makes the game so interesting and keeps people coming back for more.

A very sad tale. You should have asked me that question half a century ago!

Reading situations, calculating probabilities, anticipating opponents, and making decisions under pressure. These are some of the game’s greatest attractions.

its kinda like unlocking the pieces of a puzzle...then the intermediate decisions when youve cashed that lead to the final table....
for me it is an strategic challenge more so than anything

Several years ago, I was watching a broadcast of an EPT tournament, and I remember the commentator mentioning that one of the players had made a $10 deposit on an online poker site and turned it into more than 2 million dollars—that got me completely hooked.

Probably getting good results in a tournament, or in some cases, when I lose, knowing that I lost while playing my best.

Shipped a $10 tourney for $300. Spent $400 celebrating with friends that night. 10/10 would do it again.

I’ll probably never forget my first tournament victory. It was a freeroll at 888 Poker, and that’s where I earned my first real money.

I think it's the coolest game ever invented. It's such a crazy combination of boredom, excitement, happiness, anger, nerves, critical thinking, logic, deception, humor, money, and a whole bunch of other stuff. And you have to be good enough to keep all these emotions and factors under control. I've never loved and hated something so much at the same time. Highs are highs, and lows are lows.

The thrill of competition, the strategy behind every decision, and the excitement of turning a small stack into a big win. Poker hooked me because every hand is a new challenge

For me, the game is fun because I feel that I make the right moves and get money because of my skills. The cool thing is that you can’t get bored of the game because every time you try to beat someone, you have to come up with a new strategy and think about your enemy’s game style. After understanding the game theory, you will find it hard to stop playing! 😂♠️
