What he's it mean to "chop it twice" if you run it multiple times?

What does "let's run it 3x and chop it twice" mean?

I get the run it 2-3x etc?

But what does "chopping the pot" after that mean?

running it twice or more when you are better than 2 to 1 is not intelligent of a move dont do it.

I have never heard of anyone saying let's run it 3 times and chop it twice.

Where did you hear this from? and what was the outcome, obviously if you heard it or saw it then you had to of witnessed the outcome..

Running multiple turns, rivers, and boards is obviously a great thing to do and lowers variance which is what all good poker players want. but like you said the "chopping the pot" is what doesn't make sense.. And if they are going to chop the pot anyway there is no point in running multiple boards, turns, or rivers..

I mean there is no way you agree to run it 3 times (guaranteeing someone comes out ahead) and then talking about chopping anything...

Unfortunately one person won all the boards so they just paid it to that person...

Ok I asked. Here's the explanation...

The board is run 3x HOWEVER
if the first two go 50/50 THEN they chop and the third board isn't run.

Mind-bending for sure.

Three times means someone can win 100, 66%, 50%, 33% or 0%.

It decreases variance.

Sounds a bit weird. It might be skewed, player with lower equity to have larger ev than he should have? This might be bad for better player. There is no symmetry, if low equity player gets lucky in first 2 boards, his equity is not corrected by third because it’s conditionally removed. Am I imagining?

This must be what he was looking for because this would be done only in cash game with permission from floor manager. Maybe on TV with celebs they could do whatever with permission. Unless he's talking about a OH/L game where you have high winner and two low winners? Maybe mixed metaphors?

Nah, 100 mil hand run, targeted equity for player1 70%, measured 67.2%

That said I can't explain the difference in equity, which stays about the same when using targeted 70% equity. But it's more than likely just my error in coding. Using pure 3 times gives expected 70%.
