Years ago, I used to take the train up to Reno - then still a small mountain town - and play poker on the weekends to relax from everyday life. I rented a hotel room, slept whenever I felt sleepy and played 7-card stud the rest of the time. I have never lost money and usually win a little. It was a time when almost no women played cards. I am young, the appearance is not bad either and that is a small advantage.

Answer your questions. Playing poker has taught me how to read other positions better than before. It taught me how to control my emotions more truly. It helps me get acquainted with a diverse and very interesting group of people in a different environment so with what I can remove in real life. So what does this teach me about “Life and how to live”?

No, not enough evidence. Life is not at all like a poker game. In life, you will be more successful if you reveal secrets, and if you do not suppress your emotions, do not limit subsequent communication with a small group for a long time and do not set the number of calculations (by default, although from time to time you still have to do so, of course).

A full life is the best thing. And you will collect money in the poker game if you do

Always expect the unexpected. Keep humble as like in a game of golf you are always one step from disaster.

Poker does teach you to at least assess if tthe other person might be embellishing the truth...and to critically assess each choice...

Forecer thankful to the game for that practice.

I think poker teaches some useful life lessons, even if life isn't exactly like poker. It helps you deal with uncertainty, control your emotions, and make the best decisions with incomplete information. The key is understanding that good decisions don't always lead to good outcomes, both at the table and in life.

About life? A lot! It is too much perceivable that poker develop our patience, controlling our emotions and trainning ourselves to take better decisions. But I really are impressed about finance lessons that poker can teach us. Managing bankroll, managing chips and all our resources.

I think it teaches you how to be a better investor.

You should get a better understanding of risk and how to manage it.

The biggest lesson poker taught me is not to get too high after a win or too low after a loss. Variance exists everywhere, not just in cards. Staying level-headed is a valuable skill both at the table and in life.

Its reputation is controversial. Whether it's a game of chance or an exciting sport, poker is becoming a very popular pastime today.Success depends on strategy, chance, and the ability to bluff. For those who crave excitement and are inclined to take risks, poker brings true joy.

Honesty saying, after playing poker for a good amount I think it improves my level o patience a lot. Even improves my power of reading others mind and how to manipulate someone in different situations.

It has taught me to be patient, to control my emotions, it's not easy, but it's necessary to accept any defeat, because many times I have been to blame for losing.

A couple of things come to mind:
  • Sometimes you can do everything right and still lose, you're in the wrong place at the wrong time which can happen in any other activity.
  • Related to this is how people who seem like they shouldn't win at all can and do win, just like in other areas of life.

You can play a hand perfectly and still lose. You can also play it poorly and still win. Life works in much the same way: a good decision can lead to a bad outcome because of factors beyond your control.

life isn't like a game of poker: many useful strategies in the game, such as hiding information or suppressing emotions, don't help you live better

Making good decisions doesn't always result in good outcomes and tilting over results seldom turns out for the best.

We can't win the tournament without take any risks, the all in is inevitable. Just like life we can't thrive without take some serious decisions!

For me, poker has taught me patience more than anything else. You can't control the cards you're dealt, but you can control how you respond to them. That lesson carries over into everyday life.

It's also taught me to make decisions based on the information I have, not just the outcome. Sometimes you make the right decision and still lose, and that's true outside of poker as well. Learning to accept that has been one of the biggest lessons the game has given me.

I completely agree. To me, poker teaches us that life is all about making decisions based on having the best odds to win. It's just like hard work in real life. When you work hard, you greatly increase your odds of succeeding. But just like in poker, there is always a chance you can still lose due to unexpected obstacles or bad luck. The key lesson is to keep making high-odds choices anyway.
