Honestly I play lex veldhuis' playlist on Spotify. It's like a deep house type of music. It's very relaxing and puts me into a chill mood. This is very important so you don't get overly invested in one poker hand over another. It helps you not be so short term oriented but helps you relax and not get tilted by variance.

When I play poker, I prefer silence. Well, or rare phrases in a conversation with his wife. Music is good, of course, but practice shows that even an active conversation while playing poker is confusing. I stop to analyze the information. I start making mistakes. The best music in poker is silence....

When playing poker, I prefer no music, per se. I'd rather open some windows, maybe a door, and listen to what is coming off the street. In the city, you don't have to listen very hard to hear a car honk, tires screech, or the odd wreck. Hearing all these variable noises helps me concentrate. Music is like extreme quiet for me, it is more, not less, distracting

Like some answers here it depends on my mood.
Some days I'm jazzed up and multi-tabling and some days I'm zoned out and just relaxing.
Metal vs Classical usually, but can really be almost anything as my tastes are wide-ranging.
Never anything maudlin, though.
