What would you do if you have $10,000 to spend and you're in Las Vegas?

The wsop Main Event has a $10,000 buy-in. There are other events in the WSOP that have smaller buy-ins ranging from $1,000-$5,000. Would you go for The Main Event or would you like to play in the smaller buy-ins like omaha, stud, limit hold em, pot limit omaha, etc? Answer the poll above and reply here to explain why.

I would play a couple smaller buy-ins where I think my chances might be better..that way at least I'd have some drinking money left if I lost big...lol

I'm torn on this one but I think in the end I would go for the glory of playing in the main event. Tough one though cause like Talk i'd be tempted to play a few smaller buyins and blow the rest on booze when my aces get cracked by 9 6 off.:)

I'd play in multiple smaller events. I'd want to get a chance to sit at tables with some of the big names in poker, and that would increase the chance that I'd get seated with one of them.

Yeah, I have to agree with you all. The chances of winning some of the smaller buy-ins would be much better, even though it would be great to be in the main event. I think I'd like to try some of the smaller NLHE tourneys--particularly the short-hand games.

Don't know exactly play 1 game for big marbles or a bunch of games for a bunch of marbles.. The no guts no glory would actually kick in.. but then again when does registration for the main event stop cause if it stops later after a few of the lower ones.. I would take a shot at one of the lower ones 1st.. if I make it and a big *if* then I would go for the gusto.

I would definetly pay to play the little events. More games, more fun, more chances to win.The big event smacks me more of a Party Poker freeroll; over 10,000 people to go through. Give me the little ones and my odds go up drasticly on winning or placing in the money.

It would be amazing to play in the Main Event but the smart thing would be to enter lots of smaller tournaments. I wouldn't stick to just Hold'em, I'd throw in a Stud and Omaha tourney as well.

I voted for the main event,, heres the reason, being 61 years old it would be my only chance to say i played in the WSOP, However if i were younger, i`d probally buy into some of the smaller events and hope to win enough to get in the main event, i dont party or drink anymore, so why not go for the Gusto,,lol>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> buck:hello:

Definitely multiple smaller events. Several reasons:

(1) Avoid putting all my eggs in 1 basket
(2) Personally, I'd get a bigger kick out of making a final table or (goodness forbid) winning a bracelet than cashing, so the main event is unfavourable to me even if it has the biggest % of fish
(3) I think I'd do better at Omaha and Stud and other non-holdem games anyway

I may try to get down to Vegas next year... who knows...

I'd probably stay in a hotel/casino and just play cash games and heck if I get bored i'd purchase a hooker. Might throw my hat in the ring for a omaha h/l or stud h/l wsop event also.

My bankroll management skills would never let me play in the main event. Although it would be fun and a great experience, the smaller tourney's would also be fun. And I'd have much left over to enjoy the rest of my stay!(Craps, blackjack, Shows, Beer, Bacon, my wife). If I won the smaller one though(basically impossible) but IF. I would use the winnings to play in the remaining events for sure! Except for maybe the $50,000 HORSE event. That would be a joke for me!!

Nice post T!!:hello:

I wanna hear T1riel's answer!!!!

I voted for Main Event because it's the MAIN EVENT! and there are rebuys in the other WS tourneys.

I would allot 3K to drinks and entertainment and a sexy hotel room for me and my fiancee. Then I would most likely sit down at the side games and play with these guys who got lucky and placed 50-100 and won 4-5X their buy-in in the smaller tourneys... and the ones to got really lucky in the main event.

So, side games.

Definitely more smaller games- my confidence isn't that good and I would let myself get too easily intimidated at "THE BIG ONE" I think. If I mess up, I still get another chance or two.

I would definitely also save some for shows and attractions, too........... gotta do the gondola ride at The Venetian and the seafood buffet at the Rio again with Rock!

I like the idea of meeting up with some CC'ers, too. We will be in Vegas for a few days in early December............ any CC members who can come then too, it would be great to get together for a live game!

There'd be some temptation to compete in the main event. However, since I'm more keen on Omaha and Omaha H/L, I figured that if I had $10K to spend like that then I'd rather be in some of the non-Holdem events, as I'd have a better chance of getting a decent payout.
