With what can you compare poker?

Poker is a battle with incomplete information.
With what kind of sport game would you compare poker and why
for example, I would compare poker and martial arts.
You can not predict the actions of the enemy against you, you can always get into the most unprofitable position, do not always see the intentions of the other opponent. a blow can be obtained at any time.
And how do you think?

I compare poker to chess, but these are different games. Here you can find much in common - mindfulness, patience, planning, anticipating the actions of an opponent. But there are differences - a financial issue, a factor of luck.

I agree with chess.

But the main difference is that poker is a game of incomplete information, unlike chess.

Well, I do not know, I would compare poker and backgammon for myself, well, but poker is a great game in which you have to have many factors and luck will come at any time, I would not compare poker to other games
except chess!

if you play pool..then u know the cueball is the ball that matters...i like to compare poker to pool because of the dealer button..its is like the cueball of the poker table because it has to be in certain places to get going good in pots

I compare poker with casino.I always say that in poker you have much more change to win because it is player vs player game.

poker was for me an officer than something more than a game.
the ability to prove to yourself that your level is not just one. boost it. stimulus of development. I gave many years to martial arts, but at 40 I am already old. poker intelligence but still it's a battle

Poker is a gentlemen's game (females welcome of course). With that being said, poker is just like pool or golf. The best woman pool player I've seen is "the black widow."

Well, if you are comparing poker to chess, i just can't stay on the sidelines and not compare it to Backgammon too!

I mean, alright, you will probably say: "But it's more luck involved to Backgammon and less skill, than in NLHE!" And you're right! But you know, there are still luck & skill mixed and there are offline and online tournaments on-going! Yes, that's right! There are Backgammon rooms, that looks pretty alike as poker rooms, with their own lobby and tournament schedules with many tables/games like MTT or just single one, like HU SNG.

Although i like Backgammon, still i'm a way much bigger fan of NLHE indeed.

I think that comparison with chess is not correct because in chess better player wins almost every time and there is no luck involved. Just because of that there are no many games which can be compared with poker. Maybe football is comparable because sometimes in a single football game much weaker team can win against the champion with some luck but at the end when you see the final positions in the championship stronger teams are always ahead.

I also think the comparison between poker and chess does not fit. In chess, all information is on the table, in poker lack players information that may be read, but you can also be wrong. I would compare poker to skat or double head. It is about luck but mainly about experience and ability.

By the way, If you do not know these games, Skat and double head are German card games.
