It usually means they had a read on their opponent or had the odds to call.

I try not to get into a conversation while I'm taking some action in hand. This may tip some adversary who might be paying close attention to the conversations. Obviously this type of attitude becomes more difficult when you meet many poker players. It can be a very sociable game.

maybe the player surmised you were trying to bluff or he had the pot odds to call

In live Poker I will never say: nice legs or else to a lady player. On line Poker never say anything that will give them information about your play strategy.

On the other hand, players that say: "I had to call" and "I knew he had a given hand" are childish to say the least! :deal:

In my first live tourney i didn´t said anything that i thought somehow could be useful to my opp...
The longer sentence said was a question to the new dealer "how much time is needed to change dealers?" (cause the new one´s was the third dealer in 2h of game) 1st dealer was on the table for 1h, 2nd 30min... he told me that the first half hour change didn´t happen because a mistake from tourney manager...and besides, i´m not a comunicative person...

While playing on PS, one of the players noticed how I was presenting'
myself at the table, gg's nh's positive things. She invited me to Railbirds.com, no longer taking members now, to play in a non-drama community. I was chair bound at the time and just starting out playing online poker, What a blessing to me 8 years later to have met such a friendly community and share our experience, strength, hopes, births, deaths and everything inbetween. We even had a online marriage between a couple members, way cool. I now lead one of the clans, The League of Lizzards, with some of the other clubs that now play on Home Games since RB lost sponsorship as the owner left but kept the site open for those already a member. I learned from them to not cause drama or put up with it by not saying anything with out some thought first. We owe it to each other in all areas of life.
Someone said at the table, I have the right to speak #$%^, I replyed yes, you have the right to your opinion you just don't have to give it all the time.

I'm surprised at how often players will talk about their hand, while it's still active. I've heard players who fold talk and players who still have players left to act talk about what they're laying down. A good rule of thumb is to never discuss what you mucked.

What you should never say: 1. You should never, ever reveal your hand after folding in a live hand. We don't need you revealing that you've taken some of our outs down. 2. You should never be coaching other players, like "go all-in" or "he's bluffing", stick to your own game. 3. Poker lessons to weak players, they can learn the game on their own.

Sometimes I talk to some opponents before some action and see what they look like. When the action comes in and ask if sarcastically if he has it, depending on his response, I have a notion. It is not always that I get a favorable result, but sometimes it indicates a satisfactory move.

I think you're wondering about reading range by your comment,No Limit Hold'Em game and in this variant I believe the basics to include villains in ranges are the table positions and use the Gap concept that is quite cool. Another factor that helps are the ratings of each villain (NIT, REG TAG, Calling Station ...) and notes on them. Another important factor is the tournament phase (Home, Intermediate, Bubble, Final Table) and the amount of the villain stack, ours, and the other players that will still speak. Example: NIT Shovando 15bbs UTG + 1, intermediate phase ... We MP2 can quietly fold an AQ for example. Normally each scenario has to be analyzed specifically to frame the villain in a range. In time you're going to get bored with it. Studying the game, analyzing hands here in the forum and everything else also helps a lot this time to put the villains in a range. But the basic thing is to take into account that from what I said above: position, villain, stacks, table dynamics, tournament phase, type of tournament and so on

Provocations like "TY" after winning a hand and other messages that might draw attention. This only makes other players angry at you.

I never say a bad word or offend anyone in a poker table andar I hate when a player call the other as "idiot", "fish", "lazy", "stupid", "donkey" or any other type of offense.

I think you should never say: you're in luck! Or you are a fish ... This type of conversation is stuck and it is information that you should save rather than correct.

It means they're fish. No one "has" to call! Those who say that are 'stations. As for "I knew he had it", the obvious question becomes: "Then why didn't you fold?" It's either a confession that they are suffering from terminal callitis, or they're simply BS-ing you and they had no idea where they were in that hand.

You should watch what you say. A couple years back, I took a break from a furcon when there wasn't anything on the schedule and visited the local casino for some Poker. I was still wearing my fursuit (I sometimes do strange things like that: puts them off their game). I was seated at the same time as another player, who was talking to the dealer. From that conversation I learned that:

1) He was a reg who was on a first name basis with the dealer.
2) He was bragging about his on-line results, and a recent trip to 'Vegas.
3) He was tilted, still complaining about getting aces beat at the table he just left.

I opened UTG with pocket queens, and he 3! out of the BB. I repopped, and he goes all-in. I would normally just call his 3!, especially as the first hand against a total unknown to see what the flop brought However, he wasn't an unknown, because he was running his yap. I figured he might not have as good as queens, as he was tilting, against a straying conventioneer looking like an anthrofox (that usually means fish). Flop comes (Q, 7, 7) and he had pocket jacks. Another stack gone, and he pulls out the green chips and rebuys.

During that same orbit, I get (AK) raise and get called behind. Made a 1/2 pot c-bet on a TPTK, 1/2 pot on 4th, and a thin value bet on the river, and the other reg shows (KQ) after he calls with his out-kicked kings.

The BB calls the floor for a table change. He knew I knew exactly how much was in the pot at all times, and that he definitely didn't want to be sitting there with Dorugremon always being in position. As he's gathering up his chips he's muttering something. All I caught was "damn professional" and "furfag". Right then I called him out and asked what his problem with furries was. He got apologetic as I wasn't supposed to hear that. I also didn't appreciate that he announced to anyone else who might have heard that I was a "damn professional".

He wasn't tilted so bad he couldn't recognize a bad situation: out of position against a better player.

Ya, people that have this habit don't balance and sometimes tell you correct. They are ALMOST always trying to mislead. So if they want you to think one thing, what does that mean they are trying? What does their strategy mean you should do?

Also, never point out these weaknesses to the other players. They are yours to manipulate

lets say i had 68 os in BB and a short stack jamms all in, 6k in the pot and 1.7k to call.. getting those odds with any 2 cards is a call in my book. so that's the i had to call part.
Sometimes deep in a hand i realize they might have the 1 hand that beats me, i know i should fold but they could be doing the same thing with some other hands in their range that i am ahead of. i might call to see if i was correct on my read and hoe they had something else in the range. This was the i knew they had it part.

I prefer not to talk too much in a poker tournament and avoid giving informations about my style of playing.
