I've been trying to learn poker since 2015 and I still feel like a beginner because poker isn't like riding a bike, it's like playing the guitar – if you stop, you get rusty. I always thought it was luck, and it seems like it still is.

I used to think folding was for weak players….. turns out folding is what keeps you in the game.

That poker was an easy way to make money… lol. But to be honest, when I started many years ago, it really was. Today, I think it has become extremely more difficult.

I used to think that online poker was rigged and they always make the regs run good.. but back when I first discovered full tilt and I was tilted on how I was running against regs with big stacks

Mine was thinking position was this massive automatic edge and that if I had position I was basically entitled to win the hand. Now I laugh because position is great, but it doesn't magically fix bad ranges, bad sizing, or calling down in terrible spots. You can have position and still torch chips if you're playing weak hands or not paying attention to stack sizes and player tendencies.

I never raised when I first started playing poker cos everytime I raised I lost, that was because
I raised with stupid hands.

As a beginner, I honestly believed “if I keep losing with AA, the site must be rigged” 😄

Now I laugh at that because I understand variance much better.
Even the strongest hands lose sometimes, especially in all-in situations.

I also used to think bluffing constantly was the key to winning poker.

Over time I realized solid value betting and discipline are far more important than fancy bluffs.

Since 2013, I started playing, in the beginning everything was fine, then I had bad streaks, which I couldn't stand it, I stopped playing for a long time, until 2023 I started again, I still feel like I'm a beginner, I know that professionals don't believe in luck, however, I still believe.
