What's the best way to become a pro/winning player at poker?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on whats the best things to use to improve at poker because I really want to be serious and maybe even go pro. I know this is very hard but even if I don't go pro I'd love to be a consistent winning player.

I've been playing micro stakes for about a year and I'm winning but not a lot (I know these games are mostly for practise) and I'd really like to know how i should go about improving. E.G: Do I read books on poker like Jonathan little or Harrington on cash games? Do i watch videos on YouTube? Buy a course? In which case what courses are the best?

Please give me any advise you have or any past experiences on how to improve that have helped you become a pro or at least a big winning player.

(I play cash games mostly)

study a lot.. play a lot. volume a lot. and get a psicologist... so you dont go crazy

I am by no means a pro but I have had a couple of years recently where I profited a few thousand dollars. So I am still working on getting to the level you mentioned, but based on my experience the main thing is playing a ton of tournaments that you can afford in your bankroll to make up for variance and downswings. Try not to overextend yourself, and yes always keep studying theory and ideas behind the game on youtube or online articles when you can. If you don't have a HUD maybe look into getting one so that you can find leaks in your game as you play as well as keep up with tendencies of other players while you multi table. I look forward to reading responses from more advanced players than myself though. Always looking to learn.

I think nowadays books are not very relevant for studying poker anymore !!! The learning process can be accelerated with the help of an experienced coach, as well as watching videos with experienced poker professionals!

I think that if you can and love to read and deal with what you read, you are already halfway to becoming a professional in this type of activity.
Be persistent, curious and hardworking and you will be whoever you want. Nobody is born a professional)).

play a lot. make small deposits online, try to some degree to practice bankroll management in the hopes that you can either win or lot, or worst case scenario keep you in the games long enough to learn a lot.
as far as study is concerned. forums are great for reading through hand histories, just dont waste too much time watching videos because remember, youtube is a business and content creators want to sell you something.

I have been playing consistently for the last 6 months and in the last months I was able to withdraw 400 USD. It is pretty good money especially the rates between Brazilian Real, I live in Brazil. Therefore I'm quite happy, however I want to move on to hight buy-ins and improve even more.

I'm far from being professional hahaha I think that a great key is learning to read the opponent, read the hands ...
They always advise studying a lot and playing a lot to put what has been studied into practice

One piece of advice is to analyze your play by talking poker with other like minded people. This can give a huge boost to getting better faster.
