Hey everyone. So, many of you I'm sure have read about all the drama on Poker Twitter about Johnnie Vibes (poker vlogger) charging a high markup on a wsop investment package. Lots of poker players were angry about it.

Anyway, I made a short little podcast for CardsChat and gave my opinion on this controversial issue. Check it out at the link below:

I feel like 50/50 and markup is the best way to do staking in my opinion

1.38 is a bit high of a mark up
I dont think it would have mattered too much if he went as high as 1.25
I mean they have expenses so this would have been fair.

I agree with the free market price, and I agree that the moral police could have handled it differently. Personally I wouldn't charge markup except to pay for fair necessary expenses, although I will also stay loyal to the backers that get me going again, and doubt I will need new backers when my poker resume justifys markup.

As I already commented in the news section, there is nothing wrong with this markup!

Let's say that there are 10 players who want to get staked and they all charge different markup.

Now, as a staker, I can really chose between any of those 10 individuals.
That being said, no one pushed stakers into staking exactly Johnnie Vibes at 1.38 markup!
Every staker had made a choice to do it, knowing what the markup is prior to paying their money for Johnnie to play.

Therefore, no one should really be mad or should in any way be aggressive towards the stakee, just because he is expensive.

I so do agree with you
You pick what you want and whom you want.
Find another with better odds, as simple as that.

I generally do not like staking. If i can not play with my own money it means that my bankroll management have problems. In this particular case i think that both parties have some arguments here. Johnnie can sell at whatever markup he decides as long as there are people who are happy with that. It is not illegal and it is free market. On the other side Polk and Deeb are correct to mention that this markup is high so that potential stakers can take informed decision.

Johnny can charge whatever he wants as long as he's upfront about it. The market always gets it right eventually.
One of three things will happen
1. He'll have few takers and he'll adjust
2. He'll get takers for the first time, lose and his pool of fools will wise up
3. He'll win and be justified

He's free to charge whatever he wants it's up to people to understand the stake they are buying. Gamblers are aware bookmakers and rakeback affiliates offer different deals they should be used to shopping around.
