What's your "unlucky hand"?

Pocket 10s are scary, but pocket kings always seem to attract an ace on the flip. Both hands are tough to play post flop with over cards showing.

Me personally i dont believe in unlucky hands. Its imo a misconception by players who are somehow biased and without knowledge about sample size and variance.

But i believe in unlucky Sessions. They are definitely real.

Guess u meant flop there? I mean that is pretty much a beginner theory which is wrong in the long run.

Seems to be any variation of AK for me. I know this is not really the case, but the flop "always" seems to completely miss and I wind up wasting a bunch of chips on nothing more than Ace-high.

For me it’s KK and AQs. Both look beautiful on paper, but somehow they get me into trouble way too often. Kings run into aces, and AQs feels strong… until the board or the opponent says otherwise. Still great hands, just not very friendly to me 😅

For a certain period, I often made mistakes with cards such as QJo. Such play led to losses. But I solved the problem radically by simply stopping playing with such hands. Over time, I came to understand how to act in certain situations with a hand like QJo, and with understanding came good results.

I often got knocked out in major online tournaments with pocket kings, even when I had the advantage on pre-flop. But, generally speaking, I try to pay more attention to the psychological side of poker.

Most poker players have at least one hand that feels unlucky, even if we know it’s just variance. For me, that hand is Pocket Jacks (JJ).

On paper, JJ is a strong starting hand, but in real games it often puts me in uncomfortable spots—especially when facing heavy action preflop or overcards on the flop. I’ve lost count of how many times it looked great preflop and then turned into a tough decision post-flop.

Over time, I’ve learned that the problem isn’t the hand itself, but how easy it is to misplay it emotionally. Treating JJ like any other hand—based on position, stack size, and opponents—has helped me avoid costly mistakes and reduce frustration.

My “unlucky hand” would probably be pocket Jacks. I clearly remember that just last week, even though it sounds crazy, JJ was my last hand in three different tournaments. In all of them I went all-in with what I thought was the advantage, but ended up losing every time. Of course, that’s mostly bad luck, but after experiences like that I definitely find myself thinking a lot more than usual when I’m dealt JJ.
