All this was paid for by the Pub Landlords in a monthly subscription, which gave them the Table tops and Poker chips etc to run a weekly league game, and they had increased bar sales on night's they were usually quiet. I went to a lot of the Quarterly Regional Finals over the 6 or 7 years I played, and even made the National Finals once, which of course introduced me to playing in Casino's for real money tournaments and cash games. You don't need to be mega-rich to play Poker, just the opportunity to play for free, make a little money and grow from there, here in the U.K. we have a saying "Mighty Oaks from Tiny Acorns grow" but just like Poker it takes Time and Patience.
