Why would they? It only takes max 5 seconds to look at your cards.

Besides you don't give away any information before it's your turn, so yeah I would wait till it's my turn as well.

The thing is, if you wait for your turn every one is staring at you. I am not sure how good people are with tells or I have any tells or not but assume I have.

Live NL tourneys I tend to look when it's my turn to act since I like to observe everyone else.

Hello how well you try to analyze your rivals at the tables, but you have to take into account how difficult it is to read your rivals and I think that there are rivals who try to set traps and bluff at the table.

Personally I look at them when I get them. I know it is not recommended but I just do it because I don't think I get any valuable info by looking at the others. Physical tells are sooooo subjective.
I agree, there are only a few legit tells, hell some times I will "act" in a subtle way to give a false tell.

I look at my cards when the action gets to me. I prefer to know the action to me before i make my mind up about what to do. for example, lets say i get 1010 on the button. If i look before the action gets to me and decide "I'm playing this hand" i may make bad calls or raises. The opposite could also apply, lets say 57s in the HJ and i look down and decide NOT to play, but then it folds to me but I've already lost interest in the hand. Also, it allows me to watch opponents look at their cards.Keep in mind though, opponents are usually watching you when its your turn to act so try not to give away any information when you look.

I like to watch my opponents reactions first. Sometimes you can pick up on a tell, a tick or even a nervous or confident stare at their chip stacks. This is usually a pretty good way to gather some quick info (usually if they look right at their stack, they're thinking about betting because they have a good hand)...just my 2 cents

I like to mix it up. Sometimes I wait until the action is on me and sometimes I'll look at each card as I get them. I find that watching people look at their cards can only give you a read if they have an obvious reaction to their hand

I always watch immediately what I have. The others can not interpret my reaction because they are busy with their cards. Its also only a glimpse at the moment that there is no room for uncontrolled reactions

I think it is best to just look right away. People that wait until their turn make me laugh. When it is your turn people are definitely looking at you and trying to pick up tells. I think it is best to look when the spotlight is off of you so that you can settle and put your poker face on

If you look right away you give yourself more time to decide what to do based on whats happening or what might happen. If you wait and look you are more likely to act compulsively instead of thinking everything through before everyone is waiting on you to act

I know this is not for online poker but when you are in a table and the dealer shuffles the cards, do you looks yours straight away, or do you like to wait until it is your turn to act? Personally I wait until it is my turn, that way I can see other people when they are looking at theirs, trying to get a read or something

I think that everything depends on the importance of the tournament. The better the tournament, the greater the prize at the stake and the more cautious it is to play. Do not hurry, it's better to wait and get more information about your opponents, it's useful to you later

Look at my cards after I see all looking at her cards. And sometimes I dont look my cards when I'm on the button. Play the players or make a guess bet.

It took me a little while but I was able to get in the habit of only looks when dealt. I believe constantly checking is a certain way for opponents to get a read on what your holding -

I do admit though I did have a pretty bad misread once that could have got me in trouble but luckily everyone folded. This was a wake up to really concentrate when the cards are dealt.

I find mixing it up is best and sometime planting a tell like a grimace sometimes when on big blind. Reason I say this is players in middle on live tables if folded to them like to try to steal the blind the goal of this is to make them raise when you hit major cards and start to push you if you miss the flop you can fold and looks as though you were defending your blind or you could hit and suck the others out. :)

I watch my cards when it's my turn to put. Before that, I look at the opponents looking at their cards.

I try to watch the other players for any reactions when they look, and try to sneak a peak at my cards when I'm not being watched.
The problem with waiting for your turn is that all the attention is on you at that time.
