When did you start playing Texas Holdem?

I started play Texas Holdem when I was 10, little cash games with the family. $10, $5 little games. Be around 8-9 people so they were fun. When did you start playing?

When I was young, we played 7 stud, 5 draw, and 5 stud. I didn't even know there was a holdem game, but there are others I did not know about too. I started playing holdem online when I was 44 years old at Party Poker. I'm 55 now.
 
I guess I started really playing texas holdem when I was like 28. Im 44 now and have got some pretty good wins under my belt over the past few years. I won 3 seats to the main event and around 70k in cash wins. Im no pro but have done well for myself in my online poker.

i have started with 32 cards deck (7 to ace)when i was ten, and i played it until nineteen nineties. then i made a break for the next 10/15 years due to some family issues. when i was ready for the return, holdem was major poker game and i have started to learn poker again
 
started playing in high school. monthly games with some friends with a 20$ buy in!
 
I started playing(online)poker in 2009.,first on Facebook,then at online poker rooms.
 
I started playing poker in 2008 when I got my first computer, previously only had played other games but never holdem and I loved it so much that today is my number one hobby, I love poker in all its ramifications and love to play poker with real money is the maximum ..
 
watching the wsop in 2006, and saw the full tilt, and p stars commercials, figured id try it.
 
When I was in 6th Grade we had a penny game that revolved around all our houses. There was no such game as Texas Holdem that we ever heard of at the time so we played five card draw and some crazy wild card games as well as a game called 'between the sheets'. In college we had a solid large group that would play many all-nighter, heavy drinking Hold'em games through the years. We even bought trophies from a shop for winners. They even continued weekly after we all graduated. Was tons of fun.
 
I learnt the rules/structure about 4 years ago. We played a few hands at that time but I had no clue what was going on. Watched some late night poker on TV after that but didn't play again until we went to a friends wedding in Corfu in May 2012. There was a late night tourney/SNG every night and then I was hooked. The 'Corfu Club' still meet up every 6 weeks or so for a game. Next one at the end of October.
 
When I tell people I play poker, I usually get a response like "lol me too when I was in middle school"
 
I started holdem at 18 just before boot. i played poker for years prior but when i was introduced to holdem it was love at first bet lol.
 
I started playing poker 2 years before black friday.

It comes to a halt after it for about a year.

During those times, I played live cash in our area.

I started to play texas holdem I think in 2006 with some friends from college, I had never seen texas holdem I played something called 51 in my country, I learned to manage the system of texas and I'm now enjoying more game modes ! 🙂
 
like 1-2 months ago. before that poker always look so complicated and scary to me, so i never took the time to learn it. now i regret not starting years earlier!
 
My son got interested when it became big on TV. We played at the kitchen table. From there it migrated to on-line and live play. Been playing since 2006 or right around then.
 
I have been playing poker gor quite some time. Before I ever knew about Texas Hold em we played 5 card stud and 7 card. I never knew other varieties existed. Until one day someone was mentioning, Texas, Omaha, I was like what´s that ? Na I just play normal poker. After it was explained to me I was like wow this is cool. Let´s see now that was like 30 years ago now. Texas hold em is my favorite game in poker now, I still do play the other varieties, excepth 5 card Omaha, I do not enjoy that game .
 
I've been playing holdem for about a week 🙂 That said, I've been doing research on how to make AI's that play Poker well for much longer. In an academic setting, not to cheat 🙂
 
hard one to answer i think it was around 1982 maybe 84 before that in the poker rooms i played 7 stud.

Started playing online Dec.2007. FTP ads sparked my interest.
