Why bankroll management is so important..

Been mostly playing 2/5nl and was getting kind of bored of my $600 BR so decided to mess around a bit with my BR at 200nl and 600LHE ..here are the results






At around 900 hands is when I just lost about 5-7 $6.50 SNGs in a row so I was down a bit and was steaming at the way my luck went so decided to play 100/200nl..played about 2 hands and jumped up about $60ish so I was happy again and stuck to 5nl

At around 5000 hands I thought I could do it again and took shots at first 300/600 LHE and had a bit of a swingy session for what my BR was..but from LHE I came up about $50 and decided to take the $50 to 200NL ..stacked off my AKs against QQ, lost, and was back to where I was at..and from there I just kept losing until my AK high flush ran into a lower flush where I stacked off for about $100 and again against a small stack for about $30 and was back at my peak ..I kept telling myself to get off the table since I won my money back plus an extra $60..until my QQs ran into KKs and lost $100 ..tried to win it back but it didnt happen..

so from there on out Ive stuck to BR rules and been playing 10nl ever since while taking some shots every now and then at 25 nl !

its always hard maintaining strict bankroll guidelines because youll always get cravings to take shots at higher stakes, i think thats what separates the good players from the bad, and im a bad player haha

That is my biggest problem with trying to maintain my bankroll. When I go on a streak and place in the money on 3 or 4 tourneys in a row, I always want to push it and increase my bankroll as soon as possible. The problem with that is even if you are playing very well and getting cards, one real bad beat takes you back to zero.
