Why Do You Play Poker?

Heres mine:
Because I'm a cynical, misanthropic, sociopathic sadist. In poker, I can let other people suffering, and earn money there. They can not retaliate often and I earn more money as they are suffering because of their lack of skills even more. In all other activities that would still be fun (tax inspectors, blocking cashier, bailiffs) unfortunately, no jobs were free, so I can only poker. Certainly a suboptimal mindset, but hey, it is the way it is

I play poker because this is one of the two ways I know how to make money ( the other one is sports betting lol ). I'm not good at working, and I don't want to be, but when I'll realize that I'm not gonna be able to live by playing poker only I'll get a job. I'm still a student, I still have time.

I play because it's fun, and you should always enjoy what your doing. Also it's a good feeling when you take down a tourney etc.

I play poker for the thrill, excitement and the lifestyle,
you can wake in the morning with ambitions and motivation.
you could change your life in any given month in just one tournament.

I dont want to struggle working long hours to have like almost have my pay taken off me (CSA) and tax.

when I could be at home grinding enough to live with a limitless opportunity within grasp

I play poker in my free time, which is much longer I study in college, but do not give much importance! Poker is my time to relax and not take it as something I stress! Not only did I read also play poker, watch tournaments and also participate in forums to discuss the beautiful game!

I play poker cause I have always loved the social aspect of the game. Even when giving away all my money in the early days, I really enjoyed sitting and chatting with others at the table. Then I discovered you could make oodles of money...

for now i just play to pass time. i dont want to deposit until poker is fully legal. so i just play free rolls and micro stakes to have something to do while i listen to music. at the casino ill put up some money to try to win alot, but not online right now

Its my place of Zen.

When I'm at the table, I don't think of anything. Not my work, not my wife, not my responsibilities, nor my bills. Just me, the cards, and a bunch of people I try to be friendly to with the same time at war with.

Oh yea, and the feeling of your heart in your throat on that first hand you decide to play or bluff. Love it.

I play poker because it's a game where you learn to be patient and I think this is very important in our life.
Another reason is that poker is not all lucky, I mean is a game where the smart people wins and the donkeys lose (not always but most of the time)

I guess there are a few reasons I play poker.

1. Semi-Easy Money once you put the time and volume into it.
2. Getting myself away from other games that consumed most of my life, and was nothing but a waste of time.
3. I have hopes in raising a antiquate amount of money in order to help my family dig out of our current debt. My family does not know about me playing online poker, and I hope once I bring it out to them, I will have a large sum of money backing me up

I have always been a gamer.It used to be video games. The game systems and the games cost were just astronomical.Then one day I found poker, a game I enjoy and I can win money by playing it.No more 400$ game system or 70$ games for me.

I started watching poker on TV and loved it, seeing the best players pit their wits against each other. And i thought I'd like to learn it and try to become good at it. Early days yet but i'm hooked and slowly getting the hang of it to a certain extent. Having some mates round to play, with beers, food and chat is now my favourite way to spend a day. I play for the fun of it but if i got good enough I'd play for the money too.

Live MTT games are alluring to me. It's like playing a game of Survivor... who can outwit and outlast everyone else. It's very exciting when you look at it that way. At least to me. And then the prospect of winning a sizable amount of money for doing so just adds to the fun.
