Everyone here has studied poker: ranges, ICM, videos, hand reviews... and yet sometimes the graph doesn't seem to get out of place.

After playing for a while, I realized that the problem is not always lack of study. It is often some errors that end up holding back our evolution:

1 ️ ▼ Focus too much on the outcome of one hand and forget about the quality of the decision.


2 ️ ▼ Not being able to let go of a strong hand when the villain shows a lot of strength. (I confess that I still struggle with that sometimes)

3 ️ ▼ Play limits above what the bankroll supports. (I already broke because of that, lol)

The more I play, the more I see that poker tests our discipline and emotional control as much as our technique.

And for you, which of these errors hinder the players the most?

One thing I've noticed is that the game changes drastically as you move up in stakes. At the micros, basic fundamentals alone can give you a solid edge. As you climb, opponents make fewer obvious mistakes, pay more attention to ranges, and are generally better at exploiting leaks. What worked at one level often needs to be adjusted at the next.

I play 10/25 cents, 25/50 cents, 50-$1 and some $1-2. I find that I know what to expect from players at the higher stakes, whereas, the lower stakes you get more confusing moves and much more gambling.

I've continued at the same limits for the past three years and am winning small but regular amounts. Better that than move up and blow the lot.

I think the problem I hear most about is that of capital management.

I do not want to move up in stakes because I would like to keep my game fun. I don't need stress in my life. I compare myself to me. Another main reason I do not move up in stakes is that thought at the back of my mind that the site goes dark or the government shuts it down. To me, I refuse to keep more than a pittance in my poker accounts because they can be gone tomorrow through no fault of my own.

Sometimes a particular limit is the only profitable one for the player. Sometimes there is no desire to go higher. Higher limits usually mean harder games and more variance. More variance means wilder swings. I've seen how those can go and I don't think I can stomach them right now.

For me it's definitely the mental side. It's easy to study the game, but staying disciplined after a bad beat or downswing is what separates winning players from everyone else.

Could it be because I suck at the pokerzz?

yes , as mentioned above , i'm just not a strong enough player to move up a level or too .

I still want to learn and gain more knowledge, although a few times I have upscaled I noticed hire stakes are more disciplined than crazy freerolls and lower stakes
