Do you live in USA? I live in Finland, and gambling wins (poker included) are tax free. I am not 100% sure but I think that is the case in all EU-countries because of ETA.

In Russia, poker is legal only in two gambling zones. online poker is illegal. Therefore, the state can not claim your winnings. But I do not know how you do with this in Kazakhstan.

Because the government doesn't produce welath, it only redistributes it. I'm sure your government know much better how to spend your money than you do. This is the whole reason we have a Democratic Party here in the USA..

If you are playing poker for a living, you should be able to claim your losses on your taxes. If you win a million at some point you'll probably be paying taxes on it since your buy-ins for the year will not not be anywhere near that. Either way, you are able to claim your losses on your taxes, if this is your job.

I always thought the same as you , why if I win I have to pay taxes but if I lose I dont get any compensation ... doesn't seem fair at all.
But, if you roll high amount of $ on poker and you have to pay tax on the country
you live it might be wise and profitable to move somewhere else were you don't have to pay
taxes so you have more money
