Do I have a question for the club members? Can poker become your only source of income? Are there people out there who only love poker?

I think it's entirely possible to have poker as a primary source of income, but it requires a certain degree of dedication and discipline. It's not just a matter of being good at the game; you have to learn how to properly bank and roll your money and not let emotions dictate your decisions. I know there are people out there who love the game of poker so much that they play professionally, but I'd still rather have another source of income just in case. ♠️💯

I’ve been playing poker for over 20 years. There are months when I make more from poker than I do from my job, but it has never even crossed my mind to quit my professional career and dedicate myself entirely to poker.

For now, I consider poker as a hobby and try to improve myself while keeping my regular job. I think it's risky to rely entirely on poker for monetization, because even good players go through long losing periods. My current goal is not to rely so much on luck and to become a better player through learning and disciplined play. Then we'll see how far I get. ♠️

Yes, poker can serve as one’s sole source of income, but this is only possible for a small minority of players—specifically those who treat the game as a profession. Are there people who care only about poker? Certainly. There are absolutely such people. For these players, poker is their primary passion, and they dedicate the better part of their lives to it. They enjoy the mathematics, the psychology, the competition, the analysis of decisions, and the very atmosphere of the game.

Turning passion into profit through poker is entirely feasible, provided you have absolute discipline. Of course, I’m speaking strictly in theory here, as my own bankroll currently begs to differ.

Unfortunately, living solely on the money earned from poker remains a dream for most players, and I’m one of them.

If you have to ask the question you are at least 20 years before that may happen, and then you'd still need a normal job as well.

Can poker become a source of your income? Of course it could. If you're willing to put the work in, and I mean lots of work, you can achieve anything. The problem is, poker is not an easy game to play, and it's really not easy to make the money. I would never suggest to anybody they shouldn't try, but I would never say somebody should try. As for the love of the game, my screen name says it all. I don't care if I win a ten-cent tournament or a thousand-dollar tournament. Doesn't make any difference. I play for the thrill of the competition. As an ex-athlete, it's my way of keeping my competitive juices happy. And my name, LuvePoker, says it all.

You need to play for 5 years, then you can catch up.Never play poker with scared money. Don't try to hit a gutshot. Never play poker with strangers. Don't drink alcohol while playing.

I wouldn't consider making a goal out of playing online poker in 2026. The AI era has been here for a while and the games are tougher and tougher. You can have all the discipline you want, muster all the skills you need, manage your bankroll all you like. You will end up losing everything. You cannot compete with AI. Bots are everywhere, stables are everywhere, solvers are everywhere. I used to live off poker for more than 5 years, but in the last 2 years or so I got so trashed that I cannot see clearly anymore. I've been having a personal struggle in the last years with poker.
And on a side note, I'm reading the titles in these threads and I'm thinking what the hell is happening. But that's just me. GL 🙂
