Exactly...well said! :)

Interesting question, when you consider that, online, nobody even really HAS a gender. I don't think I ever really thought about the gender of my opponents, only how they played. Of course, when you suck out on me, I hate you, no matter how you identify. =)

I, for one, fully support tournaments for ladies only.

I prefer the comments of my brothers LuvePoker and Rob Hodson.
And actually Debi has the absolute truth. Women are highly bastardized by too many idiots who hide behind a laptop in a cowardly way.
So he doesn't see any kind of problem with there being MTT for women. It is more hopefully there are many more, so many players can join global tables and demonstrate their good skills.
greetings to all:):):):):):)

Agree. It makes sense in a live tourney where is very common having tables of 8 men and only 1 woman.

but it doesn't make sense having a ladies event online, cause unless is very clear by your screename and your pic, no one can't tell what is your gender

Or even if their avatar or alias are being truthful about the player - if I didn't really want people knowing I was a male, I would have an alias like "Statsgirl1."
But having online tournaments for ladies only is a really good way to get more and more ladies involved in poker, and everyone should support THAT idea.

I think that women can play tournaments just for them, if they like it and feel good doing it, I think they can do it without any problem.

Do people express this contrived outrage when they hold senior tourneys? Of course not.

Just to clarify, I'm fairly certain Debi is talking about the way women are treated or mistreated at live tourneys.

Having women-only poker games is not unfair to men because there are no restrictions on men playing poker in general. Women-only games provide a safe and comfortable environment for women who may feel intimidated or uncomfortable playing in mixed-gender games...

I feel like this is the point where people will be angry at me BUT I have to be me.

I actually feel it is not fair, there are many groups of people that would enjoy a game just for them. Why just for women? Why not for the LGBTQ? <3 I also feel if they made a "for men only" game that that would upset people too. So in my opinion, that shows an unfairness to it. Some women intimidate men, and I do not like just pointing the finger at men as the only bullies.

JUST TO BE CRYSTAL CLEAR AS WELL, sorry for yelling but people jumped all over me when I asked this question before and I stated my next statement clearly but it was like no one saw...
I love the woman's games here. Here we are learning and growing as players. Getting comfy playing poker is important, it makes 100% perfect sense for me. I think that is a beautiful side to CC and one of the many reason's why I love this community and the people who run it.

BUT I do feel like poker is one of the only games we can all play together and if were are going to start making games separate, we should do it for all players that can feel threatened at times, not just women.

I would prefer though if we all just played together. If chat is too much for your game, close the chat window. Just focus on the game, that is something I think is very important to learn to do too. You slow down your learning in ways, if you do not work through the hard parts. The mental game of poker is very real.

If I see someone being bullied, I also NEVER just spectate online or in person. I stick up for them and try to defuse the situation. I feel like if we all did this as a rule, it would help more than separating us.

I should also divulge that I did play one women's event :p but the field was so small ...that seemed to be a plus to me...the female sharks ate me up and spit me out :p quickly!! Plus if this is what PS wants to do, it is not my company and I do appreciate their seeing a need and trying to fill it. I just wish it was truly fair to all.

I hope my female friends here are not too upset with my response or perspective <3 and I hope if anyone disagrees they feel comfortable to TALK with me about it. I could be missing a very valuable piece of insight that you have <3 Love to all and sorry if I offended anyone.

I fail to see the problem. A lot of poker games are private anyway, which mean, not everyone can play them. It is even quite common these days for private games to take place inside public casinos. The popular streams like for instance Hustler Live are also not open games. People are invited to play in them, and if for whatever reason the producers dont want someone to play, they are not invited.

Fair point, and perhaps not quite coincidentally the Womans events on PokerStars are not exactly attracting massive fields. At 12.30 CET there is a 4,4$ Bounty Builder with a 6.000$ guaranty and a 4,4$ Womans special with a 50$ guaranty. So even if woman only make up 5-10% of the player pool on Stars, way more woman are playing in the regular event than in the Womans special. I dont think, anyone would complain, if PokerStars took down these Womans events, but at the same time I also dont see, why anyone would complain, that they have them. It simply does not matter either way.

I don't think it has anything to do with fairness.

I've always consider these tournaments as a way to welcome women into the world of poker in a comfortable and fun way, without us men bugging them. I mean we already do that in real life, give them a break! :ROFLMAO:

Besides, these tournaments are a very, very, very small percentage of tournaments available. Really very small. And more importantly, if they weren't only for women is not like they'd be open for everybody to play, they would just not exist. So, they make no impact on us men in any way. Well, other than maybe they help women get better at poker... hmmm, is that what bothers you about these tournaments, maybe? ;)

This is the kind of question that annoys me. The question should be; "Are women only tournaments fair?". The answer will always be "Yes". If the question is; "Are women only tournaments fair to (men, non binary, cats, dogs, aardvarks, etc)?", the answer will always be "No".

Restrictions to help one group will always cost another group or groups - if that's how you choose to see the world. This does not make the games (or the concept) "unfair".

Personally, I can't understand why anyone would think it is not fair. There is really no reason why they should not have a game for the lady only. Let's also be fair and realize something like 98% of the players is many events are male. Why not have a event where the lady's can play and be more comfortable playing especially if they never played live before. Just seems like a win / win idea to allow these games.
The reason I can think of is that there are no tournaments where women are excluded, so why exclude men in others. I also think that we should stop treating women like if they belong to some different species.

45% of women are afraid to play poker against men. The nature of female poker - Relative slowness in assessing external processes, fear of taking risks, excessive emotionality (try to approach the girl who flew out on the bubble :)) do not prevent poker players from achieving incredible heights, but only if they chose poker according to the call of the heart.A good player in a skirt who decides to play aggressively is a disaster. You are unlikely to be able to guess her bluff. Partly because the girl's lie is so true that at times she herself is ready to believe in it.

Thank you to everyone that is taking the time to express their individual opinion on this topic.

It is excellent to get different points of view on this and hear what the community thinks. Discussions both on this being fair and unfair make sense to me. I can see why live games for woman only would make sense from a point of view of helping introduce new players into the game in a comfortable setting, that said I can also understand why it may seem unfair to some to exclude men from some online games limiting their options.

It is great to see that cards chat is a platform where people can freely speak their opinions on a topic like this without judgement and it is also great to get different perspectives. I agree the wording of the question has room to be positioned better however I think the topic is clear enough to understand what we are trying to gauge from the community.

It is interesting that at the moment that the poll is more in favour of having woman only games by nearly a 2:1 ratio, meaning that at the moment, although a small sample size, the majority is certainly in favour of woman only games being available.

Please continue to speak freely on the topic, this helps enlighten on varied views.

Live I think it's fair as not many women will play live poker or wanna play live poker with a table of mostly all men. Specially when half them are likely scummy douchebags to start with. Online though I feel completely different about the topic. Online it's kinda moronic to have women only or men only events.

So much is different about the online game and maybe I'm wrong but I doubt women are as intimated by sitting and playing with men online compared to live. Let's face it online you don't have to chat, listen or even see chat and just don't have to put with douchgbags which there's always at least 2-3 at every dam table live it seems.

Cheers!!!

Only one ever Debi, you are very right. Plus, I do not know if that counts considering it was not even at a casino. (is this about online games though? )
I have no problems with women only games, I have even played one online. But if it is about fairness for all, I do think there are flaws in a system that is only recognizing that women have problems with bullies or the comfort levels of playing with people who are the same. I just do not think that separation is the best solution for most problems.
I also know that my perspective on this is not the answer and would very much like to engage this conversation. I always enjoy something that makes me grow, even if I need to get some mud on my face first :p lol

The thread does not say online only - but it spills over to online events as well. While you can't always tell if someone is male or female for sure - it is an easy guess a lot of times. While the abuse and lack of respect is much worse in live games - it still happens online.

And most women start playing online before they start playing live. Having women's only tournaments online is a great way to bring more women to the game in a more comfortable environment than they will face playing live.
